Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey, IAS 1984 batch Maharashtra cadre is a B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. In 1998 he joined the University of Minnesota where he obtained his MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science. After finishing his PhD degree, he returned to the state in 2003 and was soon appointed as Secretary to CM during Sushil Kumar Shinde's terms as Chief Minister. Presently he is Secretary, IT Government of Maharashtra and leading e-governance efforts in the state. While he was in the University of Minnesota, he taught computer science to undergraduate and graduate students. He has published and presented several research papers in reputed international conferences and workshops such as ACM, IEEE, and SIAM. He also served as member of the program committee for the Pacific Asia Knowledge and Data Discovery (PAKDD) workshop held in Tae-Pei,Taiwan in 2002. He is also a member of the program committee of the Eleventh ACM SIGKDD International Conference on Knowledge Discovery to be held in Chicago, USA from 21st - 24th August 2005.
