The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is reported to have raised the retirement age for pilots by a year.

One Central Civil Service on verge of extinction

Indian P&T finance and accounts service(one of the central civil services) is at crossroads and probably on the verge of extinction. This service was started in 1973 and its officers have been serving the BSNL,MTNL and DoT. After the corporatising and privatisation of these major telecom companies, the future of these officers is uncertain as the GOI hasn't been able to finalise any future course forthese officers. Not many officers are willing to get absorbed in BSNL/MTNL as they don't want to lose their Civil Servant status. The best option advocated has been to merge this service with other Accounts service like Indian Audit& Account Service however, there have been resistance from many corners. Nobody in GOI seems to be serious on any decision and the officers of this cadre are living in a constant danger of extinction.
