Fixed tenure issue dropped !
The issue of providing fixed tenure for the post of the Home and the Defence Secretary is learnt to have been dropped at least for now due to the fear of the alternative batches of IAS officers who would be losing out on the top job. Law Ministry, pointed out that many of these sufferers of the alternate batches may even seek the shelter of the Court to challenge the government order if the tenure is fixed.
Mehrotra to be next Additional Secretary - DEA !
The 1974 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, Vivek Mehrotra, is being tipped to become next Additional Secretary in place of Sudhir Mankad. Mehrotra is presently Joint Secretary in the DEA.
