ONGC inks MoU with Coal India

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Coal India Ltd. (CIL) for active association in Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) - an alternate
energy source.C&MD of ONGC Subir Raha signed the MoU at New Delhi on 3rd November 2005. C&MD of CIL . Shashi Kumar signed on behalf of CIL.Both ONGC and Coal India will have equal (50:50) participation both interms of investments and benefits. This collaboration effort proposes the pilot projects to prove the potentialities of the process of UCGwhich is expected to culminate in to establishment of UCG stations by 2009.
