If the request of the Maharashtra Government is conceded, Chief Secretary, Prem Kumar, would get a further extension of minimum 11 months from November 30. 1968 batch IAS officer Prem Kumar who is already on extension of three months is scheduled to superannuate by November end.

A couple enjoys foreign trips

The same couple which had gone to UK and Europe last year at the cost of the Ministry, this year enjoyed the hospitality of USA, Canada and Mexico. The husband is an IAS officer. Both travelled first class through out, stayed in the best five star hotels, enjoyed the services of embasay staff at all places, took expensive gifts from the staff posted in those countries. RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT SENDS
SHIVERS IN PSUs

Right to Information Act 2005 has sent a wave of shock among the top brass of public enterprises. Even though the act is few days old, letters seeking information on various matters are flooding the public enterprises. Earlier it was difficult even to get a routine information. Now the people, NGOs, Journalists and affected citizens are asking information as a matter of right. What is worrying the top bosses of PSUs is the personal nature of information required - additional perks enjoyed by Board level bosses, award of contracts, recruitment, appointment of consultants, progress reports on infrastructure projects, etc. A senior Power Sector official speaking on the condition of anonymity said that they never thought that such information will ever see the light of the day. Now that people have a right to know, only God can save them. The work of CVC will increase manifold.
Bulk of the PSUs have yet to notify on their website the Public Information Officers. Media will be flooded with scandals and stories about the life style of PSU bosses. At last there is hope for transparency.
