Now IAS training in top world institutes !

DOPT has reportedly begun scouting for a global partner for a comprehensive multi-million three year program for training IAS officers through some of the top most academic institutions in the world, in partnership with LBSNAA. This will have a direct influence on the ACRs and promotions of IAS in the future and will be a welcome step. It is an ambitious project which has been directly conceived by the Prime Minister. Incidentally, Gangadhar Prasad Shukla (IAS, UP,1969), on deputation since November 1,1994 for the last 12 years to universities in USA, has been camping in North Block for many weeks to bag this prestigious project for Duke University. Other key IAS officers are trying to get this project for their respective alma-mater. Whether IAS will get trained in modern management practices or whether this would also be taken as paid holiday is the million-dollar question.

Sanat Kaul to be Secretary in GoI ?

Grapevine has it that Sanat Kaul will be appointed Secretary in the Government of India. 1971 batch UT cadre IAS officer, Kaul, who is presently posted in the International Civil Aviation Authoity, Montreal is returning by this month end after completion of deputation tenure.

Will Bal Apte be BJP President ?

NHPC to enter the dark zone

NHPC is destined to enter the dark zone of uncertainty as the Government have failed to make recruitment to the post of Chairman & Managing Director and to the post of Director(Projects). .A.K. Gangopadhya currently Director(Projects) and acting CMD is retiring on 30th of this month. Even though Ministry of Power had given its clearance to . S.C. Sharma's name for CMD,NHPC, CVC is reportedly taking it easy. Similar is the story of Mr. S.K. Dodeja who was shortlisted for Director(Projects) many months back NHPC became headless in May this year. Since then, the Government have not been able to make up its mind.
NHPC is to make an investment of Rs. 32,000 crores during the 10th Plan period and it is far behind in funds utilization and capacity addition. With uncertainty looming large with CMD and Director(Projects) not in position, things are going to worsen.
Ministry of Power will be asking S.K. Garg, Director(Finance),NHPC to look after the work of CMD in additon to his duties. Director(Projects) portfolio may go to .S.P.Sen, Director(Technical
