AN IMAGINARY INTERVIEW WITH - L K ADVANI

I have a few hours to kill and choose to do so by going to see a movie. Tickets for only Mangal Pandey are available and I buy a ticket. I am surprised to find quite a lot of security at the entrance of the Theatre (Multiplex) showing Mangal Pandey ….is the movie that bad that they need to keep security at the exit to stop audiences from running out…or is it to protect the Multiplex from being damaged by disgusted audiences????

On entering I get the reason for the security…… seated in the topmost row is the only other member of the audience in the hall…….L.K.Advani!!! As luck has it my seat is just next to his.

Me: Namaste Sir!!
Advani: Namaste…..why are they not starting the movie!!!

Seems there is a glitch and the Usher comes and informs us that it will take some time for the movie to start. I think to myself maybe they are trying to get people to come and watch this movie…..maybe they've dropped the ticket price or are offering freebies outside the Multiplex to attract people to come in and watch Mangal Pandey.

Me: Sir we've got time to kill, would you care giving me an interview so that time karr de hum fill!!!
Advani: Who are you……. and what do you do???
Me: Bharat Kumar hai mera naam……aur famous logon ka interview karna hai mera kaam!!!
Advani: Chalo……shuroo karo interview leke Prabhoo ka naam samay bitaane ke liye karnaa hai kuchch kaam!!!

The Usher comes and asks us if we would like some refreshments and both of us request for tea!!

Me: Advani Ji I am still perplexed about your statement on Jinnah in Pakistan!!!
Advani: All that happened is that once I crossed over to Pakistan from President of BJP I became a Statesman……. and all that glitter in Pakistan really got to me!!! And then how could I say anything negative about Pakistan's Father of the Nation in Pakistan……this statement was inspired by geographical and not historical compulsions …….had I been in India my statement would have been different!!
Me: But what is your true position on Jinnah???
Advani: Abh kya kehnaa jabh chidya chug gayi kheth…… for me toh Jinnah is ominous.
Me: But don't you think people would like to know you true position???
Advani: Don't worry in my memoirs I will explain the entire episode and also give my true position!!!
Me: Why do you believe the pen is mightier than the mouth???
Advani: More convenient if you ask me!!!

The tea arrives and with the tea are biscuits. Heavenly to eat chocolate biscuits dipped in tea.

Me: Why has there been such a clamor for your resignation!!!
Advani: All that I will say is samajhne waale samajh gaye joh naa samjhe woh
anaadi hai!!!
Me: Yes sir…..sabh kuch seekha maine seekhi na hoshiyari, sach hai Advani Ji ki mein hoo anaadi!!!
Advani: Do not take it personally……. see the issue is that RSS wants to have a say in BJP…….RSS behaves like a Parent and has kept an imaginary umbilical chord attached to BJP. My request is that there comes a time when the child is young and needs guidance but then when the child grows up it takes decisions on its own and the Parent does not interfere anymore….it is unnatural for the umbilical chord to remain after birth!!!
Me: But Sir you are equating your Party's age to human years….whereas if you take your age in Party years BJP is still in its infancy!!!
Advani: All I say is that Baap banne Baap aur Beta rahe beta….Baap faltoo sawaal nahi poochthaa aur Beta Baap waapas jawab nahi detaa!!!

Advani's throat is dry and he requests one of his Security men to get a bottle of water!!!

Me: What is your equation with Vajpayee???
Advani: Yeh dosti hum nahi thodhe ge!!
Me: Well then in your relationship who is Veeru and who is Jai…. because I feel Jai is the more committed friend…… and also the friend with the brains!!
Advani: Dosti hai like Veeru and Jai…..it is up to you to conjure the rest!!!
Me: Then who would you say is this Veeru and Jai's Gabbar Singh!!
Advani: Well for us Gabbar is Sonia !!!
Me: Don't tell me then you take Manmohan to be Sambha???
Advani: (laughing) Visualize Sonia standing with a gun telling Paswan …. 'abh tera kya hogaa kaliyaa'!!!!
Me: By the way what is your prophecy about Bihar!!!
Advani: NDA will form the next Government!!
Me: Of course with the support of Laloo!!!
Advani: (practically jumping out of his seat) Support of Laloo!!!!
Me: Arre Sir if Laloo had not tacitly blocked Paswan's entry into the RJD Congress alliance story would have been different!!
Advani: And do not forget the misrule of RJD……hopefully after the Bihar election in Gabbar style Sonia will question Laloo 'abh tera kyaa hogaa Laloo'!!!!

Advani goes online on his palm top and I presume he is checking his mail. After some time he looks towards me for my next question!! I'd bought a chocolate before entering the Theatre and we share the chocolate.

Me: I feel Uma kick started the indiscipline in BJP!!
Advani: Arre Uma beti is just too temperamental!!
Me: Mamtha and Uma have a lot in common.
Advani: But I've taught Uma how to control herself…or may I say prevent damage…… see now she carries stick jaws in her jhola and whenever she feels the mercury rising in her head she pops a stick jaw into her mouth ……. preventive measure!!!
Me: But she can still express her anger via sign language!!!
Advani: Yes……must do something about that…… arre why should I bother now…let the new fellow who comes learn by experience and formulate his own measures.

Advani is getting impatient and he asks his Security to check up when the movie will commence.

Me: What is your reaction to the recent exposé on Congress's and CPI's KGB connections?
Advani: See these people lament RSS being the real power behind BJP …… at least RSS is pure desi…… book shows that behind Congress and CPI, KGB was the real power….videshi power!!!
Me: But both call this as slander!!
Advani: Well the lets see if they sue the authors for slander….book jhoot na bole joh sach thaa saamne aaya Congress ya Commies hass le chahe roh le!!!!

Advani's Mobile rings and after short conversation disconnects and gets up from the seat.

Advani: Accha toh hum chalte hai……. actually this is my hiding place……..when I want to go underground momentarily I come here……..in air conditioned comfort I stay out of sight and if the movie turns out to be good it's a bonus!!!
Me: I too had come for time pass…..but I got lucky and was able to meet you and get your interview!!!
Advani: Well very soon I'm going to have a lot of time on hand…… I'm going to watch movies and write my memoirs.
Me: Then Sir I hope that Bollywood movies will not have an influence on your writing!!
Advani: My friend if the factual memoirs of any Indian politician are written it will turn out to be like a Bollywood movie story!!!!
