PM for secr level probe committee !

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, is understood to be thinking to constitute a committee of Senior Secretaries to look into the discrepancies, if any, in the empanelment of 1975 batch for Additional secretary level.

Grapevine has it that K Venkatramani is being appointed DG Investigations in Mumbai. He is 1971 batch IRS officer. The post has been lying vacant for the last seven months.

What a coincidence !

Rural Development Ministry of Government of India has two lady officers on top. They are Dr Renuka Viswanathan (Secretary, Rural Development) of 1971 batch and Smt. Veena Shriram Rao (Director General, CAPART) of 1972 batch. The similarities are:

a. both are ladies

b. both are from Karnataka cadre but not natives of that State

c. both are married to IPS officers (of course retired now). Dr R Viswanathan of 1966 batch of IPS (again not from Karnataka, he is from Tamil Nadu) and Mr Y S Rao of 1969 batch of IPS (originally from AP).

d. both received education from Institutes of repute; Dr Renuka Viswanathan from Paris (both Masters and PhD) and Smt Rao from Cambridge University.

e. Finally both have only one child each, that too a daughter, and what is more, both the daughters live in USA.

Director V V Giri National Labour Institute, Uday Verma, has been granted extension in his deputation tenure till March. He is 1976 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.
