During elections several polling officials are drawn from the huge fraternity of school teachers. In Bengal, there are any number of Government funded schools. And the teachers have declared political affiliations. The teachers in West Bengal have such a wonderful option- not available to any living being in India-they can be polling officers or in the event of being exempt from poll duty they can be Polling Agents of a political party. No prize for guessing which party these teachers prefer being agent of-Red or any colour.

1972 batch asked to approach Grievances Cell.

About a dozen 1972 batch IAS officials who had, in a representation to the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, complained about anomalies in their empanelment have now been asked by the PS to PM, TKA Nair, to make representation to Grievances Cell.

Mystery shrouds decline in number of 1975 batch IAS

Mystery shrouds the declining number of officers empanelled to the rank of Additional Secretary every year. Going by the records, 58 IAS officials were empanelled to the rank of Additional secretary from 1972 batch, 54 from 1973 batch, 48 from 1974 batch and only 33 from 1975 batch. The sufferers naturally are curious to know the reasons behind this downfall.

While non IAS officers are suffering for empanelment and placement, the IAS have been lucky to pull a fast one. This service is doubly blessed. Besides being great strategists, with a close network, the IAS are known to how and when to pull strings . With politicians in their pockets, the IAS have been able to create the office of Central /State Information Commissioner. All the top posts in these commissions are being held by retired /going to retire IAS officers in the rank and pay of Cabinet Secretary i.e. Rs. 30000/- per month. According to grapewine these posts were intended to benefit only officers of Indian Information Service. But they lost in the bargain and the slots went to IAS time servers. Is Prime Minister aware of this game plan.
