Kaun Banega Foreign Secretary (1)

In case of Shyam Saran (IFS '70) not getting the
Extension ,who will succeed him on October1. Though
there will still be two serving officers from the 1969
batch who were superseded by Saran, the next FS will
be from 1970 batch or even junior. The seniormost
after Saran in the batch is TCA Rangachari, presently
Ambassador to France, who retires in September 2007.
He has got the backing of NSA MK Narayanan and is also
related to him. The only negative point against him is
whether Govt would call him back from Paris where he
joined in August 2005 as France has seen very high
turnover of Indian Ambassadors in the past. This is
not a good sign for Indian Diplomacy.

Secretary level changes in GoI this week !

A major Secretary level reshuffle is expected to take place in the Government of India this week. This includes Home, Telecom, Mines, Food and Steel.

Grapevine has it that Secretary Mines in the Government of India, A K D Jadhav, is returning to Maharshtra as Member of the State Human Rights Commission. 1970 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, Jadhav, is scheduled to retire in February next.
