This is about a matter which has been agitating my mind for long, namely, the selection of Chairmen and Members of various Commissions, Tribunals, etc. Notwithstanding the fact that procedures have been laid down for selection there is not the least transparency or fair play in the actual selection. How does one explain the fact that much before even the search committees have been constituted, leave alone a meeting being held, the world seems to know who will be "selected"? This has happened with the Electricity Regulatory Commissions, the Central Administrative Tribunal and others. I wouldn't be surprised if the same scenario is witnessed while "selecting" the "Regulator" under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Act, 2006. Shouldn't the criteria or reasons for selecting a particular person from among the applicants or panel be made known?

Quota in moderation is what the good Doctor should order……. but problem is that the good Doctor is not writing the prescription!!! Merit should not be bypassed….. imagine you are on the Operation table and you come to know that the Doctor is a Quota beneficiary…. there are chances you will run out of the OT even though you are nanga-panga!!!! There is no doubt that 'level playing' field is required for the disadvantaged….. but ultimately it should be merit that is the clincher!!!! If this is not done very soon you are going to have Quota Doctors, Quota Managers, Quota Engineers …… this Quota matter needs a rethink…… why stifle merit?????? Do you want India to turn from excellence to mediocrity ???

The Producers say the movie is a work of Fiction and the viewers are informed of this at the very start…… a few seconds Disclaimer is not going to wipe out three hours of brain washing. Movies that hurt the sentiments of any Religion should be banned…. and then why should we ape the west, where they put pictures of Gods and Goddesses on undies and even on shoes!!!! Why not be trendsetters….. this is a multi-religion Society and we do not allow this kind of crap…. be it any religion!!!! The Da Munshi Code on Da Vinci be trashed….. and the Censor Board should be asked to either order cuts or ban the movie…. plain and simple!!!
