There is a report in today’s Indian Express regarding officers from the IAS & IPS who are on "Unauthorised Absence " .Why doesn’t the govt. take any action against them? If there is a policy to allow officers from some services to work in the pvt. Sector for 5 years, the same should be extended to other services as well- why is there discrimination amongst services? The comparative benefits given to different services, as revealed in the Forum, show that certain services lag behind-this should be rectified by the 6th Pay Commission. It should not become a tool to suppress some services and promote others, as is the constant endeavor of some! Technocrat Objectivity wil suffer The post of Joint Secretary in Department of Revenue handling CBDT is a Central Staffing Plan post. How can it be encadred in the IRS? For this the Govt. can have a list of companies willing to impart that training on payment.The Govt. should also think of adding village stay ,say for a month or so for IAS probationers to see first hand the problems of farmers and the actual implementation of all rural development schemes for better appreciation of ground realities of rural India.
