There seems to be a mudslinging match going on here between Revenue service and other services. no service is better or worse.its the officer who make it better or worse. and now all the officers are coming from the same examination and from the same socio-economic background their traits are similar.corruption is prevalent everywhere and all departments should tackle their own blacksheeps.no service in particular should be targetted.at the same time genuine problems of services must be appriciated and addressed rather then sermonising and taking a holier than thou approach. a sensitive netizen

It is a fact that both the Revenue Services (Customs and Income Tax)and the IPS and are infinitely more corrupt than others like the IAS, IFS, Postal Service or the IAAS. Why is it that despite there being no Secretary level posts in the IPS/IRS/ICCES, aspirants opt for these Services ahead of the IFS, IAAS and the Postal Service? Why indeed do the Railways lag behind in the choice of aspirants? For that matter why has the IFS which toppers used to opt for thirty years ago, been trailing the IAS for the past decades? Why do MPs want to become Ministers? Why do IAS officers wish to stay in the field and never prefer the Secretariat? Its all about cash flows. Corruption must be ended but mere transfers are of little avail. The corrupt must be weeded out ruthlessly. Will the new CVC take some steps in this regard? Or will the PM take the lead in this one? And what about the politicians and media? Let a beginning be made with the IRS(Customs) and IRS(Income Tax).

Indian offers Big discounts for Small and Medium Enterprises

In a pioneering effort in the country's aviation industry, Indian has tied-up with American Express to offer big benefits to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who are American Express Corporate Card holders.
A novel scheme " SME Discount" has been introduced today, whereby the corporate or charge card holders in the SME segment will get attractive discounts and prizes for travel on domestic and international flights of Indian. The scheme is valid till 31st January 2007. In addition to this discount will be the "Deep Discounted Fares" of upto 60% announced every month on select sectors/flights operating on domestic sectors.
Based on the volume of business generated during the offer period, Indian will offer 60 free tickets for travel on its network, to winners after the scheme closes. Also on offer are 60 room nights at Trident Hotels, courtesy Amex.
The SME discount is available on tickets purchased in INR or USD, for travel on domestic and international sectors. Easy Fares under K, T and V classes on domestic sectors have also been brought under the scheme's ambit. Cardholders will be entitled to 10% discount on Economy class full fare ticket and 15% discount on an Executive class full fare ticket, for domestic sectors.
