Decision on NHPC' CMD this week ?

Ministry of Power is likely to finally decide on the new CMD for NHPC this week following expiry of the deadline fixed by the Supreme Court. The Apex Court had asked Ministry of Power to decide on the fate of S C Sharma within a fortnight. The deadline has expired on 6th. The appointment has already been delayed by over nine months. The post fell vacant on May 1, last year, following the retirement of Yogendra Prasad. The Ministry of Power had referred a complaint against Sharma to CVC who in turn asked CBI to look into the complaint. The appointment to Director (Projects) of the Corporation has also been held up on similar grounds.
