Grapevine has it that D Mukherjee is returning to the parent TamilNadu cadre.1971 batch IAS officer, Mukherjee, has been moved from the CBI to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as DG. He is however, unlikely to join the NHRC.

Sanat Kaul to be Chief Secretary of Delhi !

Dr Sanat Kaul is likely to be appointed new Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government after the retirement of S Regunathan in May. He is 1971 batch IAS officer. Appointment of his batchmate Ramesh Narayanswami as Secretary Overseas Indian Affairs in the Government of India has fuelled the speculation to this effect.

Ashwani Kumar promoted in CBI

Ashwani Kumar has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director in the CBI. He is 1973 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.

A S Aulakh no more

Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Housing Corporation A S Aulakh has passed away following a cardiac arrest in Indore. He was 1971 batch IPS officer. Aulakh is survived by his wife Mrs Aulakh Chief Income Tax Commissioner in Chandigarh and sons Nav Nihal Singh IPS officer Punjab cadre and Roopvant Singh IAS officer Gujarat cadre. His body has been taken to Chandigarh for cremation.

Pukhraj Bumb, a retired IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Chief Minister Pratap Sing Rane in place of 1998 batch UT cadre IAS officer Santosh D Vaidya.

I agree with what P Singh has said. The ground realities are like that only. The IAS is a self motivated band of we the people and do not allow any other service to come anywhere near them. The more you dig their working the more scams you find. Arun Shourie once remarked IAS as Indian Appeasement Service and they excel in that. Where is the transparency in your works Mr IAS.

I think the comments made about the luxurious life enjoyed by IAS officers courtesy various govt dept is the most outlandish figment of imagination coming from those who are really having a very deep inferiority complex with this service because they are not able to get through it in the first place. The kind of remote places in which they have to serve where there are no access to any modern amenities coping up with cultural differences and facing language barriers is a very painful experience for both the officer and his family life. People just neglect all these things and just mention all sorts of outlandish assumptions which are not really existing. I dont subscribe to AP remarks but the kind of responses it generates makes me think that really officers of other services have a huge attitude problem with IAS officers.

I appreciate that all the services are having the importance of their own but the fact remains that IAS is richer in work experience and it more or less control country's major policies. I am not an IAS by the way.
