I strongly criticise the feed back from "gyan" regarding the so called "other" services. It is a highly arrogant perception of the civil services. I belong to the IAS myself, and have spent 27 long years in the service but would not venture to suggest that any service - even the Central Secretariat Service - can be treated differently. True, each service has a functional purpose and in several cases, even speciality, but to segregate the civil services in a socially useful forum such as yours is a little too much. No machine - least of all the civil services one - can run without all its nuts and bolts in place, notwithstanding the pretension that one is more important than the other. Please continue to treat every news for what it is worth, rather than classifying it into "premier" services and the "others". Sunil Kumar DO YOU WANT TO REACH THE OPINION MAKERS IN THE COUNTRY ? FORUM When Indian Bureaucracy will be thing of past The comments by Gyan prove that if such persons are present in Indian bureaucracy, days are not left when the Indian burauecracy will be a thing of the past. The Indian Bureaucracy had a glorious past because it was headed by large hearted great personalities with great vision. They thought the entire team of their workforce as their family and they took care of them as their family members. That is the reason that people still remember M N Buch, RP Noronha and their time mates. It is proved from the fact that everyone was equal as a human being in their eyes. Everyone got their due share and respect in the administrative setup be it an engineer or a Deputy director of panchayat. They were Leaders and not managers. Today also the older part of Indian bureaucrats upto 85-90 who were trained in that atmosphere are still better than the new lot who think only about themselves. Jain Gyan is living in a make believe world of his own It appears that Gyan is living in a make believe world of his own,
totally oblivious of what makes a country go on or grow. If some services
really believe that they are the ones who are controlling the country,
then they should take full blame for our country being almost at the
bottom of the list of nations, despite over 60 years of existence as
a free nation. What is Indian Bureaucracy ? I wonder even after watching bureaucracy after 35 years this gentleman
has failed to understand the true meaning of bureaucracy. Even a Car
mechanic knows the importance of carburetor in an engine but he is not
that chauvinist to conclude that it is the carburetor which runs the
car, rest all other machinery has got no importance in making the car
move. This is high time we inculcate democracy in one's thinking as
steel frame never meant an end to the means. OR abolish all other services
and let that so called mai bap take over other functions as well. Then
only they will realise what importance they hold in the day to day functioning COCSSO a failure The two day All-India conference organised by M/o Stat & PI was
a utter faillure. The representatives from the State Governments strongly
opposed the Central Government move to impose Statistical Advisers on
them. The item was introduced in the Agenda for the conference by the
Ministry for discussion on 10.4.2007 to indirectly get ex-post-facto
approval of State Governments on creation of JS level ISS posts in all
the State Capitals, as the Ministry forgot to take the approval of State
Governments before creating these posts in State capitals with the approval
of Cabinet. After a commotion for about half an hour, the Chief Statsitician
of India and Chairman of the National Statistical Commission, smelling
the mood of State representatives, apologised and withdrew the item.
It is understood that the Hon'ble CAT has also termed the promotion
order for promoting ISS officers to JS level on ad-hoc basis as illegal.
The Forum of State Statistical Organisations have decided to oppose
tooth and nail the Centre Government move to put Statistical Advisers
in the States as watch dogs, as Statistics is a subject in the concurrent
list of the constitution. Aaj Ki Aawaz Feel that Rahul took the joke seriously and joke could have led
