Retirement age should remain at 60

Retirement age should remain at 60. Younger generation should be given a chance and let the people enjoy the retired life at least for 15-20 years
Prakash Chandra

There should be no age of retirement

There should be no age of retirement for government servants. However, after every five years, option should be allowed to all officials to opt for retirement from their respective services. Those who opt may be allowed while the rest may continue till their mental and physical faculties are sharp.
Rajeev Kumar

Retirement age should be 65 years

I have read the views of Bhatia. I fully agree with him. In view of life expectancy and generally good health of people, it would be in the interest of the government and its employees to utilise the experience of these senior people. The retirement age of judges, teachers, presiding officers of tribunals, CIC and information officers is already beyong 60 years and it has been found that their performance is normal even after 60 years. Therefore the government must increase the retirement age to 65 years and utilise the rich experience of senior officers upto 65 years.
Deepak Singh

Retirement age should be reduced to 58

Raising the retirement age to 65 is simply unthinkable. Younger persons should be recruited to take over from older generation. That should be the case. Though life expectancy is more, one's mind tires at sixty. It would be good if the retirement age is reduced to 58.

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Imaginary Interview with Amar Singh.

I got a call from Amar Singh that he was going to give an invite to Junior B's wedding to the interviewer he found best. He informed me that he had already been interviewed by Barkha and Rajdeep . As I had no inclination to attend Junior B's wedding I gave him a call after the wedding. After playing hard for some time he agreed to be interviewed. His only condition was that I conduct the Interview at Vittals near New Excellsior, where I treat him to Bhel. I readily agreed.

Me: There are many who are saying that the Aishwarya-Abhishek wedding has become a political one. That all your political rivals were not invited by the Bachchans.

Amar: No actually I wanted to invite all my political rivals , but then I found out that the invitee list would go up sizeably and Prateeksha would be too small and the wedding would have to take place at Wankhade or Brabourne Stadium . I was really looking forward to Sonia coming to the marriage so that I could take my revenge…… I was planning to send her a card with the invite in invisible ink which would disappear and then I would have made a hullabaloo crying out that she came uninvited!!

Me: This question is being asked because Sonia Gandhi and the Gandhi family were very close to the Bachchans. The feeling is that after you fell out, in a sense, with Sonia Gandhi it's become impossible for the Bachchans to invite the Gandhis.

Amar : In the A Gang we follow the adage….. you take panga with any one of us then you take panga with all. But we've gone over this matter many times and we still have not been able to decide whether Big B fell out with the Gandhi family first or I had pangas with them first. The Jury still out on this.

Me: So, whose prerogative was it not to invite the Gandhi family?

Amar: Andhar ki baat hai…… we felt that Gandhi family would take political mileage in UP if they were invited!!! Moreover with the UP elections in full swing none of the Gandhis would have time to attend the marriage!!

Me: And you and Mulyam attended the marriage despite the polls because today the perception is that maybe SP would do better if both of you kept away from campaigning. Quite uniquely the Bachchans have made sure that this hasn't become a seven-day event like the Liz Hurley-Arun Nayar wedding. You are right that they have managed to retain an element of privacy but can you really remain private when you are the number one star in the film industry? Can such a wedding ever remain private?

Amar: Actually our feeling was that the more we made this into a private affair there would be more inquisitiveness in the marriage. You must not forget that this is a filmy family and they thrive on publicity. As for me publicity is like water and air to me!!! We made this marriage both private and limited…… the marriage was made off grounds for the Media and we limited the marriage to a four day affair…….we could have added a few more functions but our Astrologer warned us that this would not be right!!!!

Me: So, a conscious decision to keep it a family affair?

Amar: No, a tactical decision was made to keep this a family affair!!!! In fact from this marriage I've come to the conclusion that sometimes its good to play hide and seek with the Media!!! See the way the Media has gone gaga over this marriage. We've already got an offer of Two Million Pounds from UK for the marriage CDs.

Me: Then why not take up this offer and the proceeds can go to a Charity!!! If some people call the entire affair a media tamasha then you blame the media for it? The Bachchans or Amar Singh never tried to make it into a public event?

Amar: Arre you decide what came first the egg or the chooza!!!! I think we've taken the Media to the next level…. from just ordinary journalists we've made you guys into the World famous and glamourous Paparazzi!!!!

Me: So, it's not a wedding designed to show the power of the Bachchans in Bollywood, Amar Singh in politics or Anil Ambani in industry?

Amar: This is a family affair…… let me assure you, we've scaled down the celebrations. All of us are very busy….. we've taken out time from our busy schedules for this marriage… it a family affair!!!! And very soon the Captain of our Team , Mulayam Singh Ji, will be joining us in the celebrations.

Me: How ironical that you call him Captain…. Punjab has just rid itself of a Captain and seems UP is doing ditto….. there are polls going on in Uttar Pradesh. Many believe this is a battle of life and death for the Samajwadi Party and yet you are not in Lucknow but in Mumbai at the wedding. Misplaced priorities?

Amar: UP mein dumm hai because hum sabh sangh sangh hai!!! Anil represents the Indian Industry, Big B the Film Industry, Roy the non filmy entertainment Industry, me the all powerful Page Three…….you see this marriage is good for our electoral prospects!!! Yes it is a matter of life and death and please remember we believe in life after death!!!

Me: But the wedding has been built over a number of days. There was a highly-publicised visit to Banaras, Mirzapur and then the wedding in Mumbai. It's been a bit of an event, would you agree? And don't forget that you kindly called up the Media and informed us for these visits!!!

Amar: Arre Bhai this year we all had accumulated a lot of frequent flyer miles on Jet, Sahara and Kingfisher. We spoke to the Airlines and they offered us chartered trips to three destinations in India!!! So we took up the offer and as this Manglik issue had to be resolved, we chose Banaras and Mirzapur as the destinations. And I informed you guys because publicity was part of the package that we negotiated with the Airline Companies……. we've got them to agree to Tirupati as the third Destination post the marriage!!!

Me: What's your pangaa with Mukesh???

Amar: I've never liked him….. he's too technical…. I find him totally boring!!!! And he's not superstitious!!!

Me: Maybe that's the reason you broke ground with Anil and not Mukesh!!!

Amar: See, I had consulted my Astrologer as to which Industrialist should I become palely with!!! After months of research my Astrologer came up with Anil Ambani!!!

Me: They say Amar has broken the homes of all his friends!!!

Amar: Dill cheez kya hai aap merri jaan lijiye… bass ek baar meri dosti kaa hath thaam lijiye!!! Yaari hai imaan merraa yaar merri zindagi!!!

Me: But the record shows that all your friends end up singing…. Dost dost naa raha!!!!
