FORUM Why this hue and cry about Chandrasekhar ? Why this hue and cry about Shri Chandrasekhar being tipped for Cabinet Secretary. When Yashwant Sinha was Finance Minister, all Officers from Bihar were appointed to plum posts. In fact, almost all posts of PSs to Ministers were cornered by people of Bihar. What is wrong if a Keralite or for that matter a Tamil Brahmin is appointed as Cabinet Secretary? Are these posts the exclusive property of BIMARU States? These are people of mean mentality and have double standards. Radhikai Chandrasekhar as Cabinet Secretary Such parochial considerations should not come in the way while selecting the topmost bureaucrat! The most suitable and deserving candidate should be chosen bearing in mind seniority and merit! H G Obhrai How can we call Chandrasekhar competent ? How can we call Mr Chandrashekhar competent? During his tenure as the Revenue Secretary an unimplementable transfer policy was conceived, approved and 'implemented' in CBDT. The implementation as observed by even CAT was not on merits. S Mishra Retirement age should be lowered to 55 I fully agree with the views of R.Singh. Why do the oldies want the retirement age to be raised to 62 or 65? What kind of rich experience are they talking about? The experience to indulge in petty politics or the experience of accepting bribes? If they are so willing to share their rich experience they can join some NGO and do something worthwhile for the society. Infact to enthuse new blood in the rotting government departments, the retirement age should be lowered to 55.
