Practice' by Vinod Dhall, ( former IAS of MP 1966), Member and Acting
Chairman of the Competition Commission of India was released by P Chidambaram,
Minister for Finance and Prem Chand Gupta, Minister for Company Affairs
on 24 April, 2007 at the prestigious FICCI auditorium. The launch was
organized by Oxford University Press, the publisher of the book. The
launch was attended by the cream of Delhi from the judicial, administrative,
legal and other fields, like several secretaries of GOI, judges, senior
lawyers and law firms, economists, and business leaders. The book, which
is being extolled by international experts, was praised by Chidambaram
as an outstanding work, which must be read by lawyers, economists, senior
public servants, and ministers who are responsible for economic ministries.
He commended Vinod Dhall, who has worked with him earlier in the Finance
Ministry, for bringing out this invaluable book and the work he has
being doing in the field of competition. He said that it was now most
important that the competition law should be brought into force immediately.

You write so many things on so many subjects. Devote sometime on the
status of IRPS in the Railways. Officers with 20+ yrs serviceare waiting
for their SAG promotion while posts in CPO are still held by officers
of Mechanical Engg.Is it cadre balancing or just anarchy? Retirement age should be reduced to 55 I fully agree to the views of A.K.SINGH in reducing the retirement
age to 55 years as we are a country of youth representing almost 60%
of the total population, therefore it is high time we give the younger
generation the oppurtunity to take India ahead. The policy should not
be changed for the benefit of a few people at the top who have got used
to the power and perks which they are unwilling to leave. The reduction
in retirement age can be further substantiated by the fact that after
the age of 50 yrs the government has a provision to carry out a for
fitness test through a medical board or otherwise of the government
servant for continuing in service. The logic for having this board has
to be understood. Raise the retirement age to 65 There is every need to raise the retirement age of Govt. employees to 65 yrs as even the private sector is also utilizing the services of experienced persons beyond 60 yrs. It is felt that the experience should not be allowed to go waste. In the Western countries, they allow the govt. servents to serve even beyond 65 yrs. Kindly inform when the orders for raising the retirement age of Govt. employees are expected to be issued. Jagatnarain Promotion avenues in Bihar Position in Bihar is the worst in the whole country. Even 1977 batch RR officers -six officers- are still in the rank of IG STAGNATING at Rs.22400/- pm for the last two years. Is there any case worse than this?. Veyen Maharashtra and UT also slow in promotions Situation is not so only in Assam, one can see that Maharashtra also has officers reaching only upto I.G Level from 79 Batch and so is the situation in AGMUT Cadre. Abhishek Kumar Affairs in Defence Estates Sir you claim that your website is seen by decision makers ,but nothing seems to have changed in Defence estates Department even after misdeeds of Director General of Defence Estates were fully expoesd by departmental officers under their own names. As per the grapewine he is likely to become a member of CAT cocking a snook to all those who thought they could make him pay for his follies. Shobhna Mishra A proud resident of BIMARU states write Who is that gentleman or fair lady Radhikui? What authority he has to call the people from BIMARU states as people of mean mentality and double standards? Does it not reflect volumes on his own mentality Do we have some limitations on the freedom of expression or any body can spit venom on one entire region of the country by misusing this freedom of expression. My proposal is that such persons should be boycotted for ever from writing anything in this column to retain the credibility which has been hard earned by Dr. Mehrotra with painstaking efforts in decades. A proud resident of BIMARU states TAIL-PIECE A sick man turned to his doctor. As the doctor was preparing to leave
the examination room he said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know." "You don't know? You...... a Christian man, do not know what is
on the other side?" The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came
a sound of scratching and whining and as he opened the door, a dog sprang
into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog?
know my Master is there and that is enough." Where you are meant to be. I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet Contributed by -Col Satish Dewan Aaj Ki Aawaz In fact Mulayam and Amar are two little piggies scared that they'll
