News channels boom in India
In a sudden spurt of news channels India by the year 2009, the country will have more news channels than the US. This would have happened in less than 20 years of satellite television boom in India. 1986 batch IRS officers
Yes, the CBDT always follows the principle of 'show me the face and I shall show you the rule'. Officers who are proficient in the darbari system are naturally benefited. This is evident from CBDT order passed on 25/6/2007. One officer who has never left Delhi from 1989 has been retained in Delhi on promotion. Ground given is that she is covered under the spouse case. There are many such cases and the list is endless. It is very clearly given in the Transfer Policy that an officer on promotion HAS to be posted out. In anticipation of the forthcoming order there are already a handful of officers posted in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai making a beeline for retention in the respective places. This is being closely watched by a NGO who propose to file a petition under the RTI.

Suicides in the Army!!

I think Sat B. has misconstrued my remarks about women officers. It would wholly incorrect to say the my concern was only for "officers" - the reason for quoting the Army Day Investiture Parade event was to highlight that an established practice was done away with and women were given the women officers were tasked instead.

Sat B. may rest assured that the bonds between officers and men of the Indian Army is the best in the world - let there be NO two opinions on that. It is largely the reason for success of the Army despite travails and poor leadership from the higher rungs. My own experience of 40 years tells me that such bonds are abiding even when the uniform is shed.

Another point that was made recently was that women are being made to act as hand-maidens in the AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association) - why? They are officers first, and women later. This ill-conceived stress on AWWA activities during the present incumbency has had a devastating effect at the ground level - ask any one (commanding officer and below) and you will come to know. We are slowly but steadily turning into the chocolate-cream soldier Army of pre-1962, and you what happened then!!

Time to wake up and smell the coffee!!

Ch. KS Sindhu

All about politics

Your views that politics is not lucrative else the younger generation who is hungry of money name and fame would have plunged into it, is apparantly not very close to truth. The profession of politics is a prolonged phenomenon of wits, money and vices. Any young chap who is professionally qualified nowadays may not find it very easy to adapt to these qualities(sic) which are prerequisites to become a politician. We can watch that moral values are losing its importance in today's world, be it any field and politics is no exception. But the gravity of effect of loss of morality is more pronounced in the field of politics rather than other, as it is a profession of "service to people". This young generation surely wouldn't like to divulge itself in all those unhealthy activities which qualifies you to become a politician.

Relations with Pak can not be normal

Apropos KS Sindhu's whisper captioned 'superpower or soft state', I wish to add that our establishment's manifest perception of the so-called Kashmir problem too is a sign of being soft to the point of fault. Our neighbour keeps saying that relations between the two countries cannot be normal so long as the Kashmir problem is not solved. It's time we told the world that Kashmir problem has only three aspects (in that order). First, some rabid fanatics in the valley have driven out the native pundits just because the pundits are followers of a religion different from what the majority community in the valley follows. Second, that the same bunch of fanatics (or at least bulk of them) are advocating not just cessation of the State from the Indian Union but also its merger with the neighbouring country. And third, the occupation of a large part of the State by the neighbour. We should make it clear to the neighbour, her proxies in the valley and the world at large that none of the three is negotiable and the only solution of the so-called vexed problem is that the pundits return to their home and hearth, the fanatics learn to live as part of a secular India and the illegally occupied area is returned "Sharafat se". If this position be unacceptable, the neighbour is free to have whatever kind of relations-normal or not so normal-they want to have. Over and out.

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Now Commies are fighting…..CPI(M) does not like CPI's VP choice!!!
Karat is expressing his displeasure and making a lot of noise!!!

CPI proposed Justice Sachar's name for VP's post!!!
Karat raised the 'he's anti Bengali' ghost!!!

The real cause of opposition is Sachar's Nandigram stand!!!
In the intellectual opposition to Nandigram Karat sees Sachar's hand!!

Karat prefers WB Governor Gandhi……. however Gandhi himself got himself excluded!
So now in the race how can he be included????

But it's really surprising that Karat plugged for a Politician to be President!!!
Don't really understand Karat ke mind ka bent!!!

Because now for VP's post he's plugging for someone apolitical….. totally muddled!!
And his comments have 'left' us all befuddled!!

CPI in the meantime has asked for a review of Commie ties with UPA!!!
Some say CPI wants to join UNPA!!!

CPI (M) wants the support to continue….. seems UPA's got CPI(M) on its side!!!
Insiders say what CPI(M) top brass personally demand for UPA karti hai abide!!!

Many would say CPI (M) Commies are Congressmen in Commie attire!!!!
From the Commie Front CPI would like CPI(M) ho jaye fire!!!

And other Commies say that CPI(M) Leaders have made a lot of hay in the sun!!!
They say for CPI(M) UPA's rule has been hay making and lots of fun!!!

Wouldn't UNPA cry foul if Voters did not vote……. UNPA call not to vote is sad????
UNPA will not vote in Presidential poll…..Public and Democracy has been had!!!

UNPA is more worried about PC targeting Jaya!!!
Demanded that on Jaya PC should have daya!!!

Mulayam needs someone to translate his talk…..cannot be understood!!!
In fact he was not understandable when times were good!!!

Now in bad times his talk is more like mumbling!!!
Happens when there's been tumbling!!

PM has said that LOC should be made Line Of Calm,
And via trade and open Borders on frayed nerves there will be application of balm!!!

Pakis should drop their K fixation and go to the next alphabet L….. LOC!!!
If things have to be resolved beyond K the Pakis have to see!!!

But will Pak Army agree……. keeping Pakistan K fixated is good for them????
Any talk of peace and Paki Army will just haw and hem!!

K has kept the Paki Army in business for so long!!!
And Paki Army has learnt for Chinese counterparts expertise in ping-pong!!!

Pawar has been 'caught' all over the field but he still continues to bat!!!
And from the Captain of the team Manmohan he's even got a pat!!

No wonders Aussies pushed him off the stage… seems they know him inside out!!!
Aussies don't remain standing at the crease when they know they are out!!

Pawar they say has now decided to stop fighting elections……will use the RS route!!!
Is it possible that because he's scared his electorate will give him the boot????

His supporters say that now Baramati will be represented by Pawar's betti!!!
And so form Baramati Pawar will pack his petti( luggage) !!!

And he knows he could loose elsewhere so he's using the sure shot RS way!!!
This is what his detractors say!!

Does Manmohan Singh think that a strong Rupee is an ad for his Sarkaar???
Exporters ko padh rahi hai maar!!!

That 1400 crore lollipop is just a pacifier and nothing more!!!
And there's more upside for the Rupee in store!!!

The cause for the Rupee's strengthening is the $ 3.5 Billion FII investment is Stocks!!!
But Sarkaar should remember on this investment there are no locks!!

Most FIIs investing here are Hedge Funds……. a very nervous lot!!!
They can withdraw faster what into the Indian Markets they've got!!!

And the Sensex or Nifty do not represent the buoyancy of the economy!!!
The rise is misleading as things are going to get stormy!!

Farmers and Retailers look on Reliance as East India Co. and Mukesh as Clive!!
They say the entire veggie and foodstuff market Reliance in coming times will hive!!

Insiders say today Reliance Fresh is absorbing losses … monopoly is the aim!!!
Monopolize at buying and selling ends…..this is Reliance Fresh's game!!!

And very soon Indian Sarkaar will find that Reliance is bigger than the Sarkaar!!!
By the looks of it that day is not very far!!

First it was Gandhi's past and now Nehru's..... but both have gone yonder!!!
Making allegations about the dead is wrong..... on this please do ponder!!!

The dead cannot give their side........ not fair to the dead!!!
About the dead nothing scandalous or derogatory should be said!!

India & Malaysia sign aviation pact

The Civil Aviation delegations of India and Malaysia met on July12-13, 2007 in Kuala Lumpur to discuss matters relating to air services between the two countries. The Indian delegation was led by Ashok Chawla Secretary Civil Aviation. Both sides reached an agreement culminating into the signing of an MOU.As per this MOU, the provision of "Multiple designation" has been agreed to enabling the aeronautical authorities of both the sides to designate any number of airlines as they wish to operate on the India - Malaysia route. The capacity entitlement for the designated airlines of both sides has been significantly liberalized, which will lead to progressive enhancement of traffic rights over the next two years. It was further decided that the designated airlines of both sides could operate any number of services to/from 18 tourist destinations in India viz. Patna, Lucknow, Guwahati, Gaya, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Khajuraho, Aurangabad, Goa, Jaipur, Port Blair, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Amritsar, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and Tiruchirapalli. Also the designated airlines of India are now entitled to operate unlimited direct services from any point in India to Johor Bahru in Malaysia. In order to enhance the air services operations and to make the operations commercially viable, provision of a code-share arrangement has been agreed to. Another important outcome of these discussions is reflected in the form of agreement on an Open Sky Policy without any restriction for all cargo services between the two countries.
