Retirement age should not be raised

The age of retirement should not be enhanced rather young people should be recruited to infuse fresh blood in the public employment. Let the dead woods be weeded out fast.

Rakesh

Yes, there should be no increase in retirement age
I am not agreeing with the views of R Bhatia for the increase of age of retirement of Government servants from 60 years to 62 years. This will increase the inefficiency of Government servants for another two more years. Will Bhatia agree not to implement the VIth Pay Commission atleast for another 5 years in order to help the Government to save the money?

Criticism of IES as professional jealousy
Since IES officers have been selected by UPSC through a highly competitive examination and rigorous selection procedure, uninformed, and baseless criticisms against IES effectively amounts to denigration of UPSC and contempt to that high powered authority. In addition to professional jealousy against IES, these criticisms also exposes the huge extent of ignorance that has accumulated over these matters all around. Every service has its own importance, role and relevance in a rapidly growing global economic power like India. One can only say that those who sit in glass houses should think twice and perhaps even thrice before throwing stones at others. In any case, it would be appropriate if this mischievous, baseless and ugly mudslinging campaign against IES by some ignorant elements is stopped immediately and energy is focussed on matters of greater utility and relevance to the country.

An IES officer

Appointment of Commissioner of Police, Delhi

A senior Police Officer Ms. Kiran Bedi has been making a spectacle of herself, through the TV channels, raving and ranting against her being denied the post of CP as if it was her birthright to get this job.
To put matters in perspective, Ms Bedi has not been superseded. She is already a DG of Police and in the same rank as the CP. In fact, the post of CP was in a lower rank and has been upgraded to DG level in recent times.
Actual posting of officers, empanelled for appointment at any senior level - be it Secretary GOI, DG, Police, Additional Secretary etc has to be necessarily done at the discretion of Government. It depends on the judgment, made at the level of Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC ), of the suitability of a person (duly empanelled) for a specific post. There is talk of "transparency", in this context, which is entirely misconceived. Is it necessary for Government, for the sake of so called transparency, to explain why a certain person has been posted as the Home Secretary or Defence Secretary or Revenue Secretary or Commerce Secretary and not someone else, whom the media perceives to be more suitable for any or all of these posts ? If individual officers, allegedly aggrieved by posting of someone else to any such selection post, start making a hue and cry against their being 'overlooked ', a la Bedi, it would spell the end of all discipline in the higher echelons of the civil services. Fortunately, this has not happened so far.
Ms. Bedi comes through (from her numerous appearances in the electronic media) as a high strung, self righteous , publicity seeking individual. Surely, the Government is right in deciding that she is not the person for the job of CP, which calls for enormous tact and maturity ? She would be well advised to focus on the important assignment of DG, BPR&D, which she holds and make her contribution there rather than question the judgment and integrity of persons, who decided in favour of another distinguished police officer for the post of CP, Delhi.

Upright behaviour is not acceptable

B G Walia is totally right in his assessment of Kiran Bedi. Ms.Bedi's behaviour is most unbecoming specially, since she does not have the qualification to hold any high post. Now if she had been involved in some scandals or had like a good Indian women fallen at the feet of the right people and wept in helplessness she could have had a better chance. Upright behaviour is certainly not acceptable!

IRS as cadre controlling authority

Kumar's sharp response to Prashant's comments is typical of members of IRS. Had he read Prashant's comments carefully, he would have realisesd that Prashant does not find anything wrong in the IRS managing their own cadre. On the contrary, didn't Prashant state that it was the non-IRS man who proposed on file that the post of cadre controlling JS / Director should be with the IRS. Why can't the IRS get their own man there instead of crying out in misplaced righteousness? Not that the IRS has not had its own officer as cadre controlling JS - there was one for five years in the late 1980s and earlt 1990s. Why couldn't they hold on to it?

What is the use of data without understanding ?

Yadav has pointed out that Economic Survey is just a compilation of note received from respective departments - I agree but who prepared it in various departments? Are they not IES!!

He also claimed that Minimum Support Price (MSP) is not calculated and it is done to suits the politicians - this is just a naive statement who does not know anything about MSP and laborious crop cutting experiment done by Ministry of Agriculture(Minister of Agriculture may kindly take note of Yadav statement)

He also claimed that nobody believes in WPI or CPI - but it is an indicators most of the economic analysis is using and it is the basis for which DA etc was calculated!!!!

Quite surprisingly, Yadav makes strong case for Statistician but demode Economists!!! What is the use of bare / raw data without economic understanding!! Data becomes inportant only when it is has economic implications (Mind you).

Statistics without Economic has no use!!!

A M Murthy

Again wasteful expenditure
In spite of your highlighting the Wasteful Expenditure the Ministry has not taken any note and similar exercise is going to be repeated at Nagpur on 30th to 31st July 2007 where 10 officers of DPD Kolkata are going to review their own performance at Kolkata. What prevents them from reviewing their performance at Kolkata is anybody guess.

Seems Left is drifting to UNPA,
Because as per Left's wisdom 2009 election will be the end of UPA!!!

Certain constituents of UPA too will join UNPA….power ka hai sawaal!!!
And as we all know Politics is all about power and maal!!

BJP paraded its Goa MLAs in front of President…..of reality in Goa she was told!!!
She was urged 'to carry forward the legacy of the high office you hold'!!!

Hope she did not take it that they'd come to give her salute or salaam prior to I Day!!!
Though as per protocol their respects they did pay!!

They were there to show Madam President that BJP had the numbers on its side!!!
And that Congress should not be allowed to take Democracy in Goa for a ride!!!

Guv Jamir has asked Kamat to prove his majority!!!
But question is what will Guv do if Kamath is in a minority???

Ball will then be in Guv's court……. what will he recommend??
BJP wonders to keep Congress in power what rule will he try to bend???

He could recommend President's rule citing horse-trading like Buta did!!!
BJP alleges that Guv Jamir will do what Congress's High Command will bid!!!

Congress claims its 20 MLAs are in Mumbai under Deshmukh's charge!!
Congress says fearing horse trading they could not be left at large!!!

Kalam says he did not receive Afzal Guru's file!!!
Seems file was stuck in Shivraj's 'In' pile!!!

And Kalam says he does not regret ordering President's rule in Bihar!!!
And he says he ordered it based on the facts presented to him sitting afar!!!

So he ordered President's rule based on the recommendation made to him and talk with PM!
But what was the reason given for the urgency …… wasn't the time 11.30 pm!!!

Why did Manmohan ask Kalam to hurry???
And what was his worry???

Now NSA Naraynan says there is no Indian Muslim in Al Qaeda… has he got info on Qaeda's roll call??*
What is the basis for this clean chit call????

Common sense dictates that he cannot make such a claim!!!
Seems more like he has been made a pawn in Congress's appease Muslim game????

To confirm that no Indian is a Member he must be having the Qaeda roll!!!
He should make it public or has he got the roll on the basis that he'll not tell a soul???

Even the CIA does have Qaeda's roll….. they could have info on many!!!
Narayanan's claim sure sounds uncanny!!!

This one is not bending back but akin to doing a backward somersault!!!
This kind of appeasement should halt!!!

Hooda has indicated that he is planning a reshuffle….. carrot on the stick!!!
But sadly Sharma he'll not be able to pick!!

Bhajan's son whose the Deputy CM may loose his job!!
Out of the Cabinet Hooda karr sakatha hai isse lob!!

In Punjab Amrinder is lying low…… smart thing to do!!!
For the past few days no one has seen his mooh (face)!!!

Insiders say he's always got his cell stuck to his kaan!!!
Must be talking to Arusa jaan!!!

Sunjay will be sentenced on the last day of July…. he's expecting the worst!!!
He's expecting that he'll be in jail from August first!!!

If he's given parole there will be a hue and cry!!!
It'll then be made as Big Man versus Small Fry!!!

Anyway they say he's put up his lady love is SA….. got her Boutique to run!!!
Munna Bhai wants no tension about her in his mann (mind)!!!

Sad to see Munna Bhai in such a state!!!
Munna Bhai has said that he's getting what's written in his fate!!
