FORUM Why officers are resigning ? I have been reading in this column about many officers, primarily from the IAS, who are resigning or taking VR and immediately joining the private sector in seemingly lucrative jobs. I am under the impression that there is a cooling-off period for such employment. Is this being flexed or a blind eye being turned toward it? Or is it that these officers are not bothered about informing the GOI of their new offers; equally GOI is not unduly worried about the officers' failure. Or is it that those who give the clearances are themselves seeking favours from these officers? Shantanu Sanjay Dutt a victim of circumstances Sanjay Dutt is a victim of circumstances. Little did he realise while
acquiring the weapons, that one day he will have to pay dearly for this.
This time he is alone, with his father who stood behind him solidly
all through, is no more and therefore, suffering is more. Without commenting
on the judgment in the case, it is felt that he suffered immensely in
the last 14 years, out of which 12 years he was being tried for being
a terrorist, which he is not. His agony in this period can only be imagined. Arun Sharma This should be answered IR has apparently done well, that's what we have been told. However, much of it has been clever stage management. Conveniently 17000 Cr infusion by Nitish Kr in strengthening infra has been forgotten. Infusion of this amount of money and a globally exuberant economy has contributed to the 'turnaround'. Also the board which was behind this had formidable giants like m/s Ghosh Dastidar, Jaruhar, Sivadasan-but their sterling contribution has been conveniently forgotten. It has been seen that mantri ran the ministry more like bihar and also cut out the access of the board to him-to the extent the CRB himself was cut out from the mantri. The OSD dipped deep in to the rank and file and weakened the system by bypassing the members. The system of patronage has been taken to new heights as whatever little professionalism has been left, the clever OSD saw to it that mantri gets favourable feedback of a loyalist than a professional. Why else has the facts suppressed to a level that officers with a tainted past got elevation? When Jena became MS, issue of cases against him was flagged in TV channels. Then we saw his name being recommended for the post of CRB. When issue of vigilance cases got raised, and the file returned back, it is learnt that CVC could not give him a clean chit. I agree with Rathnam that problem lies with people who have allowed system to be manipulated. two consecutive CRBs have come on two year rule. why exceptions are being made this time around, the system has been manipulated to the extent of giving vigilance clearance to someone with pending vigilance cases, vigilance cases where punishment was given. This should be answered by someone. Interestingly the department which gives vigilance clearance is under Jena!!! Willaim Toppo IAS and non-IAS All IAS officers have not passed the same examination. Different officers have taken different subjects starting from literature, science arts engineering etc. The reason being that if an officer is good in a particular area he may be good in other area. So any officer after a particular level of experience can handle. Even given chance, a few non IAS officer may prove to be better than IAS. P K Mishra Aaj Ki Aawaz Had Kalam been in Office would Goa Speaker have got away??? Bharat Kumar ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A.K.Sinha tipped to be TDSAT member Outgoing Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD) of the "Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd"(BSNL) A.K.Sinha is going to be new member of the "Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal" (TDSAT) .His file has reportedly been cleared by Indian Communication Minister A.Raja .It may be stated that the post of member TDSAT is vacant after the term of Vinod Vaish-a retired of MP cadre IAS had expired. Initially Dr.V.K.Singh's name was cleared for this slot, but that was not approved by powers that be.Dr.Singh is a retired technocrat of the Indian Broadcasting Service.
