CBI Director gets extension in tenure

The Government of India has extended the tenure of Vijay Shanker Tiwari as the Director of the CBI till July 31 next year, the day he retires.

If top sources are to be believed, CBI Director Vijay Shankar Tiwari will continue on the post even after the completion of his two years tenure in December 2007. Reason; He would be completing the present age of superannuation in July 2008 and the government has no objection in his continuing on the post till that time.

Supreme Court is believed to have cleared the appointments of Four High Court Chief Justice. Two names have reportedly been rejected.

Grapevine has it that senior judge of the Kerala High Court Justice K S Radhakrishnan is being appointed Chief Justice of the J & K High Court.

Justice Anil Ramesh Dave of the Gujarat High Court is being moved as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Justice Roy to be CJ of Rajasthan HC ?
Justice Narayan Roy of the Patna High Court is being moved to Rajasthan as Chief Justice of the High Court.

Vivek Sahay to be GM, Railway, Allahabad
Vivek Sahay, Additional Member (Traffic) in the Railway Board, is likely to be posted as General Manger, North Central Railway, Allahabad. Incidentally, Sahay is a product of Allahabad University. The appointment orders are likely to be issued when the current incumbent Buddh Prakash retires at the end of the month.

Services should be downsized

The Centre should seriously think of downsizing the services. Just look at the numbers at the top. The number of CCIT, DGP level officers has increased manifold. Two quick points-
Top heavy departments tend to have more corruption- all pressure is focussed on narrow base- many management research studies have proved it beyond doubt. Secondly, the lower cadre officials(police inspectors, tax superintendents, for instance) have more professional expertise but have few promotion chances. (One can easily find this out as one walks into any department). This is no good to the nation as well as to the government. So, Downsize and Promote the professional lower rungs(sic!).

Whose welfare .It is welfare of IAS lobby. Army welfare department should be headed by an army officer. One more wasteful expenditure.

Why to have IAS as Secretary ?

Why have an IAS officer as Secretary Army Welfare? Why not a recently retired Lt. Gen/Vice-Admiral/Air Marshal? Serving a lifetime in the services is a lifetime of knowledge and understanding. A tenure, albeit for promotion when posts are not available is a travesty of the purpose for which the post was created.
