Narendra Modi's triumph likely

Reports pouring in from different walks of life have indicated that Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, will have the last laugh. Reason for this is that despite stiff resistance from certain quarters, there has been no fading in sheen of Modi's "poster boy image" as far as the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is concerned.

BJP ahead in Gujarat

According to a recent survey the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in Gujarat where assembly polls are to be held next month. This is solely being attributed to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's popularity. If polls were to be held tomorrow then BJP's tally in Gujarat would be "plus/minus, five seats".

Gujarat DGP K R Kaushik will in all probability move to the center in a month or two. He is 1972 batch IPS officer. Kaushik had been made Gujarat DGP at the behest of the Election Commission soon after election dates were announced.

Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, of which Commissioner is Dr.J.M.Phatak, has been doing a big gamut of activities. The MCGM is actually a conglomerate of five or six different agencies. It carries out municipal functions for a population of 1.2 million, it is also the city's Jal Nigam (Metro Water Board), prepares and implements development plan like a development authority, runs three medical college-hospitals and also runs city's road transport undertaking with 3500 buses. Its budget of more than Rs. 12000 crores is larger than budgets of states like Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal. Uttarakhand and those of the smaller states.
