Narendra Modi's triumph likely

Reports pouring in from different walks of life have indicated that Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, will have the last laugh. Reason for this is that despite stiff resistance from certain quarters, there has been no fading in sheen of Modi's "poster boy image" as far as the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is concerned.

WE SAID THIS ON DECEMBER 22

BJP ahead in Gujarat
According to a recent survey the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in Gujarat where assembly polls are to be held next month. This is solely being attributed to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's popularity. If polls were to be held tomorrow then BJP's tally in Gujarat would be "plus/minus, five seats".

I do not agree with whispers

Today's (24 Dec.,07) Whisper seems to be all about Gujrat be it your (much deserved) self adulation about how accurately you could foresee the shape of things to come or the bureaucratic reshuffle you feel is on the cards or your advice that all other heavy weights be it Soniaben or Advaniji or Rajnathji should be on their guard in the wake of the 'modi whirlwind'. An analysis of the poll verdict seems missing from the whispers which I thought I could fill up. Secondly I thought I must elaborate why I disagree with your prognosis that Modi's resounding victory should put (in addition to Sonia Gandhi) Advani and Rajnath Singh on their guard.
Second thing first. Narendra Modi has been a committed BJP leader for a long time and he has contested the elections as a BJP man. Rajnath Singh as BJP President and Advani as BJP's declared Prime Ministerial candidate - irrespective of whether or not BJP is able to install its own PM - should be only too happy at the victory because the poll results have in all probability rekindled the morale of BJP rank and file which perhaps had become shaky in the wake of desertion by some BJP stalwarts of Gujrat right on the eve of the polls. People had started comparing these developments with the desertion by Babu Jagjivan Ram in Feb. 1977 and the devastating effect it had on the then ruling Congress's poll performance. That hasn't happened and it obviously gives Rajnath Singh some reason to cheer as party President. I also don't see any reason why it shouldn't make Advani equally happy as the assertion of his party's governance credentials in Gujarat can not have any adverse fall out for him in any manner. In making these assumptions media seems to have been swayed by the political culture prevalent in some quarters that any one whose stature grows beyond a point must be immediately subverted lest he (or she) overshadows the ones born to lead. I don't think such culture is common in our country and whispers need not be swayed into making these assumptions like the rest of our media. Coming to analysis of the poll results, much has been debated whether it is a vote for development and governance or a vote for 'saffron fundamentalism'. Politics is not mathematics and the dynamics of political behaviour defy a strait jacket approach. No doubt governance style and claims of development have played a significant role but the 'one way' brand of political secularism based on the assumption that Hindu bashing shall please all muslims and muslim bashing all Hindus has perhaps not gone down well with the electorate. There is something called Indianness and the quintessence of that Indianness is that it rejects fundamentalism of any variety in toto. This quintessential Indianness essentially implies that when it comes to Indians you cannot interpret their minds in stereotyped terms as each one has his own ideas irrespective of the faith he practices. The Australian Government committed the mistake of treating an Indian Muslim - Mohammed Haneef - in stereotyped terms in which the white world loves to understand a Muslim mind and Australia's own supreme court proved their government wrong. During the Gujarat elections a section of the political establishment thought they could win the Muslim minds (or at least hearts) simply by projecting Modi as a 'Hindu fanatic'. The remark didn't go well with the election commission who reprimanded Digvijay Singh. Perhaps it also didn't go well with the electorate including the Muslim voters. The result is for every one to see.

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Modi's recipe of winning… dollops of development peppered with Gujrathi self-esteem,
Over a fire kiya for five years this 'rotla'(Gujrathi roti) ko steam!!

Not heated on a tawaa but steamed over a fire of honesty!!!
This fire will not light if there's dishonesty!!

Rotla is served with Hinduvta pickle!!!
Pickle is not meant for those who don't eat pickle or are fickle (pseudos)!!!!

And this time Muslims have relished the rotla though pickle they did not touch!!!
They say they enjoyed the rotla very much!!!

NRIs demand that development must be inclusive!!!
Well they need to talk to those in the majority minority who want to be treated as exclusive!!

Congress has got them into this exclusive mindset!!!
And if they are not treated exclusively they fume and fret!!!

Public feels development and no amount of 'black painting' will work!!!
In fact Public looks at such a criticizer as a jerk!!!

No doubt Manmohan and Sonia have some answering to do!!!
Why did Gujarathis at Congress via their votes boo???

And now some in Congress are complaining about Sonia's 'Death ka Saudagar' lament!!!
Made Modi 'Vote ka Saudagar' they comment!!

Baba Logh of the 24x7 Media were so cut up on Modi's win!!
They were facing the camera with a 'crying grin'!!!!

Now they are on another hatchet job!!!
This win makes Modi bigger than BJP ka grenade kiya 24x7 Media ne lob!!

Bottom line is every Leader aspires to rise to the topmost post!!!
If you take a poll this would be the ambition of most!!

And BJP's a democratic Party where Leadership is not a family heirloom!!
Where members of 'the family' parachute to the top and hothe hai groom!!!

Advani is not PM designate because he's so and so ka beta!!!
He's there because he's proved that for this post he's a worthy Neta!!!

Shekar Gupta please note only a ghooskhor Neta goes to the Public with folded haath,
Because he's done with the people vishwasghaath!

Modi went to the people with his head held high and a spring in his step!!!
Honesty and development gave him the pep!!!!!

Sonia Ji you and your minions will deny it but you are in a fix!!
BJP's Dhoni has hit you and Congress for a six!!!

If you ask me the 'servility' index in Congress towards you may not be the same!!
Because this is the first time I've heard Congressmen put on High Command the blame!!

So Sonia Ben please don't take this lightly and act to stem the rot!!!!
And I know you are aware I'm talking of which 'backbiting lot'!!!

You know Congressmen epitomize selfishness .... power is the name of the game!!
And for this past generations of your in-law family you have to blame!!

Congress should be worried because Modi could enthuse the majority!!
And then rest assured Congress would end up akin to the majority minority!!

Wily Pawar's a 'weathercock' and he's showing a change in hawaa's direction!!!
Seems Pawar is getting ready for some other alliance for the General election!!!

Though he says he met Thackrey to enquire about Thackrey's health!!
Political Weathercock Pawar's political stealth!!!

And for both Pawar and Thackrey Rane is enemy number one!!!
If Rane becomes CM he'll make the going difficult for Pawar's beti and Thackrey's son!!

Once the electorate kicks you out should you continue to be in power????
To the Public's mandate you should cower????

Okay you may have a five year mandate but now that elections have taken place!!!
You should quit Office if you've fallen form people's grace!!!

The same people who voted you in have voted you out!!!
And I think legal luminaries will bear me out!!

Virbhadra wants to continue in Office till March!!!
Though Public gives him orders to march!!!

How can a binned CM continue to be in power!!!
Once the mandate is clear he should resign within the hour!!

Or maybe in a first he'll be carried out of Office crying and kicking!!
Maybe with Fevicol his backside to the CM's chair he could also try sticking!!

Reports in newspapers say Amrinder's brought his new wife home!!!
Very worried and angry 'poorani biwi' karr rahi hai Moti Bagh mein roam!!

His friends defend him saying in Royal families multiple shaadis are the norm!!
They wonder why is the Media kicking up such a storm!!!

They say Amrinder's Grandpa literally had a regiment of wives!!!
So on his having just a two or three wives they wonder why is the Media getting hives????

Tytler says he's got CDs to prove he's innocent!!!
Wonder why to the Nanawati Commission these CDs was not sent????

Persecute Opposition and protect Sarkaar…CBI's dual role!!!
Perks of power for those in power and for those out of power the toll!!

Coming back to Modi and Gujarat ….. how could Suratis forget Modi coming to their aid?
When to reach them in flood waters kiya tha Modi ne wade!!!

Confucius says….. Leader who stands by people in their hour of their need!!!
Such a Leader sows in the people's heart his adulation's seed!!

Flash: 24x7 Media should eat crow because Modi's made it clear!!
Trashed the 24x7 Media's created 'now Modi is bigger than BJP' fear!!!
