Kiran Bedi is a creation of media

Going by the comments some people appear to be diehard fans of Mrs.Kiran Bedi. But what is her claim to fame? Is it because she is the first woman IPS officer in the country? How does it matter if she was born earlier. A good number of women officers have come since then. Please don't tell me that she was the ideal for all of them. Then is it because she was a honest and efficient officer? So what, there are many in the country who are better than her. Unfortunately they have not received the publicity as Mrs Bedi has carefully manipulated. Is it because she was daring enough? Her claim to fame was facing a sikh extremeist with a sword. Does someone need a list of many women IPS officers who have tackled more difficult situations. That too she faced it in Delhi, not in Punjab. Then is it because she brought changes where ever she worked? Giving her due credit I can list out a good numbers of Bureaucrats who have made difference and have been doing. She hardly moved out of Delhi and one can recall her disgruntlement when she was sent to Nagaland. She literally ran away from that state that too after getting her daughter admitted into MBBS in Delhi from Nagaland quota depriving a genuine candidate. It is easy to say that she stood up against injustice. But She went into sulking when she was not posted as Delhi Police Commissioner. That means everyone who were aspiring for the post should have gone into state of sulking and resigned. How a person who is so just and believes in working for the people makes a mockery of herself by behaving like a truant child. I would request those who are all in praises of her should read her autobiography and find out the contradictions. No doubt she was an officer of great calibre but not someone whom we treat like a martyr. She was a creation of media which she has cleverly manipulated in her favour. Please don't say that the highest award she received is the ultimate yardstick.
