A visit to any police station in India is regrettably forgetteble. Home ministers and Home Secretaries should review and monitor every month the crime performencce in terms of detection and prosecution. Afterall all these police men are paid tax payers' money !

He doesn't know the meaning of worst !

Raaghurane wrote on 3rd December that IRs worst managed service. Perhaps he does not know the meaning of worst or has not seen the condition of other services. Management of no service under earth is worse than ISS. In a globalised era where information is power and ISS officers are piling huge information on the basis of which other services have managed to expand their base after 25 years struggling at JAG level. Unless their morale is high and they are given the right place, the information system (data base) will collapse.

No dearth of bright IRS officers

There is not a single IRS officer who wants IAS officer to head Revenue Boards. We don't know ,who are the IRS officers Shantanu refers to. The only justification Shantanu and his likes are able put forward in support of IAS Revenue Secretary is that IRS officers are either corrupt or incompetent. This is perverse logic. There is no dearth of bright officers in IRS. We can manage our own affairs. IAS should stop worrying about Revenue Boards . They should simply overcome their vested interest in sticking to these Boards and quit. Nobody would miss them.
