My choice-Badal Das, Satyanand Mishra and R S Sirohi

This is with reference to your column in the "Whispersinthecorridors" website, wherein you had wished to involve the readers in order to discover 'super' officers all across the country.

MP has always had a tradition of having some fine administrators. Two names that spring to my mind immediately are Messer's Badal Das (MP 1972) & Satyananda Mishra (MP 1973). Both are outstanding officers and have done commendable work in the areas of Rural Development and Housing / Urban Development, while working in their home state. Incidentally, both of them have also served as the all powerful Establishment Officer in the Central Government.

Das has always come across as a down-to-earth and upright officer who is scrupulously 'clean'. Mishra is another affable gentleman and had no ego hassles even when he was donning the EO's seat in Delhi (the EO is perhaps the most powerful bureaucrat in the Union Govt besides the Cabinet Secretary); needless to say he has had a blemish-free record, even when he was dabbling in the murky waters of the HUDCOs,HDFCs and ADBs of this world.

Another name that I can think of is that of RS Sirohi (MP 1974), but I would certainly hesitate to put him in the same bracket alongside the aforesaid two gentlemen, because of Sirohi's "I am the only honest man around, and the rest are all chors" attitude. Having said that, Sirohi has done commendable work in his assignments as PS, State Reorganization and PS, Finance. However, he had to be unceremoniously removed from his perch as PS, Finance only because of his overbearing and haughty manner.
It is pertinent to note that all of these three worthies are currently holding weighty assignments in the Government of India. So, is it Delhi's gain and Bhopal's loss in the ultimate analysis?

Venod Sharma

There are few equals
In dynamism there are few equals of Gautam Goswami, Bihar cadre. In UP A P Singh and Dr B P Nilratna have set very high standards.

Is it a fact in the CBDT ?
You have rightly pointed that transfer policy is responsible for resignations of IRS (IT) Officers. However only those who could not manage with the past Member(P) and acting Chairman Ms Baljit Matiani are resigning.
Otherwise how can one explain that vide order datad 03.01.2007 Mrs Usha Gupta Transfered from Delhi to Panchkula, Mrs Meenakshi Singh transferred from Delhi to Dehradun and Mrs Manju Lakhanpal transferred from Panchkula to Chandigarh ;are within a period of 5 days , vide order dated 08.01.2007 transferred back. Is it not pointing to something fishy.

It is also a known fact that Mrs Matiani, even after retiring on 31.12.2006 continued to sit in her old room of Member(P) upto 04.01.2007 and finalised everything .The file Noting are a testimony that she as Chairman approved the order dated 08.01.2007 and not the new Chairman i.e. Mrs Indira Bhargav .Will anybody investigate?

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Dal , roti and veggies mehengi and daaroo sasthi,
Punjab mein abh Amrinder ke jhoote waadon mein jantha nahi fasti!!!

This is the condition in Punjab……. booze is getting cheaper and food items are going through the roof!!! This is Amrinder's way of being kind to the people…… at least they can drink and forget about their pains…… his advise to people…… a bottle or two a day will keep hunger and pain of seeing your kids go hungry away!!! Andher nagri chaupat Sarkaar, takke ( a few paisas) mein mille daaroo parr dal aur roti ka kharcha hai hazaar!!!

Vajpayee ki lalkaar,
Hatao Amrinder Sarkaar jo hai ekdum bekaar!!

Ironically there's been a change in weather in Punjab……. seems this is the harbinger of the change in Sarkaar coming up in Punjab!!! Amrinder's developmental and employment promises are on paper……. he rattles figures….. but figures don't do anything!!!! Amrinder has been harping on the power scenario in Punjab…… he's not added a single megawatt!!! No wonders in Punjab they chant…… Amrinder pett nahi bharda numberaa naal, samajh gaye assi terri harr chaal ( Amrinder figures do not fill stomachs, we've understood your game)!!!!!

Muslims are the second largest religious group in Mumbai….so how did Shiv Sena win???
Muslims would love to see Shiv Sena in the rejection bin!!!

Either Muslims voted for Shiv Sena or there is a revival of Hinduism or the low Muslim turnout did the job for Shiv Sena….whereas the turnout was about 48% in Muslim dominated areas the turnout was just 20%….. why did Muslims choose to stay at home??? Other religions are rueing the backward flips UPA has been taking to appease the Muslims!!! The message being deciphered is that only Muslims matter!!! Congress seems to have forgotten that appeasement has an equal and opposite reaction!!!

Prices keep going up and up ……. is UPA sleeping,
Why is UPA not realizing that Aam Aadmi is weeping???

Onions are the veggie price yardstick…. the minute onion prices start going up other veggie prices go up too!!! What is worrying is that in winter, when veggies are supposed to be cheapest , if the prices have gone up then come summer and veggies would go out of Aam Aadmi's menus!! And how much water can you put in Dal to let Dal be Dal???? And please why is UPA trying to control inflation the indirect way….. control it the direct way…… curtail exports , speculation (Commodity Exchange) and hoarding and improve the supply position!!! Jaago Sonia and Manmohan ji, the damage these rising prices are causing Congress can't you see?????

Match fixing is a reality,
And the game of cricket is the casualty!!!

Rough estimates say that in matches betting is to the tune of a few thousand crores!! With such money involved and with the type of people running the betting business there should be no doubt that match fixing is done!! And with most of the betting on the derivatives a lot of insider info from players is sought and got!!! The only way to stop match fixing is to stop betting…..and this is virtually impossible…. so lets live with it and take the game with a pinch of salt!!! Realize this……. your cricketing idols are only human...... and please do not forgive them because they know what they do.... you can express your displeasure by stopping using the products they advertise and sending a message and hurting them where it really hurts!!!

Fact .......Bentley car is a gift to Abhishek,
In the car kiss kiss ka hai stake????

That's becuase if he gifts the car to Abhishek then Abhishek will have to dish out the gift tax as Abhsihek is not Amar's blood relative!!!! But then why was the car positioned as a gift from Big B to his son..... Amar and Big B may be mooh bolle Bhai but they do not share coffers..... or do they????
