We invite you to select a super boss or a super cop and write to us
with your views about his qualities in brief. We would be glad to put

Finance Ministry to tighten its noose Party for such multinationals, who have their registered offices in
places like Mauritius, St.Kits, Kayman Islands(near Jamaica) or Halifax
Islands (near Canada) and run their businesses in India, seems to be
over. There is no denying the fact that these places including Mauritius
are a tax haven for corporate giants who float their shell companies
abroad and operate in India. The Indian Finance Ministry has started
working on the issue of tax evasion by such companies because they get
away without paying taxes to the Indian ex chequer whenever management
exchanges hands, as was the case when Vodafone of UK took over Hutch
in India. A flutter was created in upper echelons of the Finance Ministry
when a notice seeking payment thousands of crores of Rupees as Capital
Gains tax was served on Hutch, but it fell flat, because its registered
office is in Mauritius. Some clause to plug this loophole is expected
during the next financial year's budget that P Chidambaram will present
on February 28,2007. Ottavio Quattrocchi fiasco's jitters soon! A storm is on the anvil in the Parliament over the manner in which
media was allegedly gagged in Assam & Andhra Pradesh. MPs belonging
to the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) and Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) have reportedly
been advised to expose both the state Governments for laws against the

We do not own any responsibility, whatsoever, about these contributions). IRS is still much more efficient and clean It was interesting to read Rajeevratan's comments on IRS officers'
deserting the ship. Perhaps he doesn't know that the officers responsible
for this mess are officers of the same service whom he has suggested
as solution to the evil. For God's sake, despite all its ills, IRS is
still much more efficient and clean than any other AIS (see the difference
in the way State governments. and Central govt. functions). I have heard
of favouritism in transfer postings in I.Tax but not corruption. You
want to replace this with pure and simple corruption and nepotism as
is the case in IAS postings. Allow IRS to manage its own mess and let
IAS clean its own. Top posts is not monopoly of IAS officers The top posts in International Organizations is not a monopoly of IAS
Officers alone. The former Chairman, CBDT, Ministry of Finance, Suresh
N. Shende IRS (IT:61) was selected as a Senior Economist in the United
Nations, New York, USA in 1997, initially for one year contract but
was given continuous extensions for a further period of five years.
He was a highly efficient, intelligent and meritorious officer who got
the UN assignment strictly on merit. His predecessor, R.S. Rathore also
served in ADB for three years. IAS officers usually get postings as
Executive Directors in IMF and World Bank on post-retirement But Central
Service Officers have to get such posts for their specialization. Let
there be no more mud-slinging on IRS or any other service officers. Your Forum should be used to raise issue of misuse of CBI I think your forum should be used to raise the issues such as misuse
of CBI by all the governments. CBI is being misused from last some decades.
In fact, its name should be changed to "COMEDY Bureau of Investigations"
(For the major failures it has to bear with to weaken the cases to please
political lords) or "Conspiracy Bureau of Investigations"
(for the cases which CBI complicated to satisfy opponents of the government
in power.) Posts are reserved for favourites Never a truer word said posts are vacant in the board but are reserved
for favourites. People like Praveen Mahajan and Seila Sangawan by virtue
of their proximity to the powers that be are going and getting choice
postings not for them. The persons who are really affected are not only
being cold shouldered but also being debarred from deputation posts.
The example of Ananya is a case in point that shows that all u need
is a godfather to help u out. Why ask this question ? Why ask other officers as to who is the super officer or super cop?
As we know, unfortunately, bureaucracy and police in India have started
operating forming cliques and coteries and the feedback will only be
personal and motivated. If you really want to assess who is the super
cop or officer, the question should be addressed to the subordinates
of these officers or the general public ( not press ) , who have had
the chance to be served by these officers. Aaj Ki Aawaz Question that should be asked
