Glorifying names -tough job, for sure
Calling - has always been the favourite pastime in all Government offices. Glorifying names, therefore does not come easy with Civil Servants. Our attempt at naming the nameless and faceless Super-Boss and Cop has miserably failed to evoke any response. Some one in our office observed that if we had asked for the most incompetent and the most corrupt, people would have fallen over each other to name them. Didn't this happen in UP long back? We have decided to leave it at No search for heroes in the world of bureaucrats ,therefore that's the end ,for once and all.
However, only one name was received from UP from a couple of respondents. And the name is 1974 batch IAS officer Atul Chaturvedi.

BJP survey puts Modi on top, Vasundhara on top from bottom
An unofficial survey conducted at the behest of the BJP in the states ruled by it is said to have placed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on top, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on number Two, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Number Three and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on number Four.

Shahi or R P Singh ?
In case a technocrat is allowed to assume the charge of Secretary Power in the Government of India, then in the final round the tie for the post is between R V Shahi and R P Singh. One can only wait and watch. There is also a dark horse.

Secretary level changes next week

If PMO sources are to be believed now Secretary level reshuffle in the Government of India will take place only next week.

Who will be Secretary Personnel ?

Now one thing is certain that 1971 batch IAS officer will not be appointed new Secretary Personnel.Earlier thre names of three 1971 batch IAS officers H C Gupta, Meena Gupta and V Subramanian were in circulation for the post.

Ahmad to be CRPF DG
Name of S I S Ahmad is believed to have been cleared for the post of DG CRPF. He is 1970 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre.

States against two years term for DG and IG
If Home Ministry sources are to be believed, majority of the states have opposed the recommendation of the Supreme Court that the term of the DGP and the IGP should be atleast two years.

PM becoming political
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, known for his bureaucratic image, is these appearing to be growing political if his statements during the past couple of months are any indication.

Sandhu empanelled
N Sandhu has been empanelled to the rank of DG in the Government of India. He is 1973 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre.

Orders of Rajeev soon
Infact, the Government had forgotten to promote DG Archaeology Rajeev C Babu. Now single order of the promotion of 1973 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer, Rajeev, to the rank of Special Secretary is being issued in a couple of days.

Chaddha is Director AYUSH
Sanjay Kumar Gupta has joined the Government of India as Director AYUSH. He is 1989 batch Orissa cadre IFS officer.

Ahmad is Director Official Labguages
1978 batch CSS officer Hasib Ahmad has joined as Director Official Languages in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Samnotra is Director Textiles
M N Samnotra has joined the Ministry of Textiles as a Director. He is 1986 batch CSS officer.

1995 batch IAS promoted in Andhra Pradesh
IAS officers of the 1995 batch have been promoted to additional secretary rank from the joint secretary cadre. Those promoted include B Venkatesam, Sanjay Kumar, M D Ekka, Jayalakshmi, Naresh, Usha Rani, V Anil Kumar, K Ramagopal, Vani Prasad, Devanand, Ramanjaneyulu, Bheem Naik and Tippanna.

IPS changes in J & K
K Rajendra Kumar will now be IG CID.B Srinivasan on return from central deputation has been made DIG Baramulla Range.A S Lone has been appointed DIG Jammu-Kathua.A H Wani will now be SP CID.Jagjit Kumar has been posted as SP Poonch.

Bhave promoted in J & K
Sadanand Bhave has been promoted to the rank of Financial Commissioner in J & K. He is 1973 batch IAS officer.

My choice is B K Chaturvedi
My choice would be out and out for the current serving Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi for being an upright, honest, sincere and hard working officer with honourable intentions.

Such a decision should not have been taken.
The fundamental principle is that an officer should hold a post which exists. It is not clear if the large number of special secretaries joined their posts only after such posts were duly created.
This decision is also likely to create justifiable heart burning of officers of other services who have been empanelled to various positions like Joint Secretary and yet languish in the lower posts for years. They would then legitimately ask for promotion in situ.
The decision also sends a signal that prunning of the bureaucracy is yet to receive priority attention.

Prior to the previous electoral bout in Punjab psephologists predicted Akalis ka total route,
And in the end it was practically a drawn bout!!!

Prior to the previous elections the psephologists had predicted a total route of Akali Dal……. the Akalis did not do that badly in the elections and Congress just pipped Akali Dal to power!!! Psephology can never work in Punjab……… Punjab has been the burial ground of psephology…….. psephologists should remember that Punjabis have a great sense of humour and they love pulling a fast one on the psephologists… and they do it with such a straight face!!!! Politicians are the best judges of the swell…. and this time there has literally been a horde of turncoats entering Akali Dal……Punjab Congress has literally been facing a famine of turncoats….. indicator of the swell being in favour of Akalis!!! Ground reality is that MV Captain Sarkaar is sinking ….. cause……. under the weight of the Captain of the Ship!!

For all the games he's played while being in power Singla will pay!!!!

Singla behaved like Amrinder's OSD……. Officer on Speaking Duty……. he was always yapping for Amrinder!!! He had public spats with Akalis and even threatened them!!! Now Singla is desperate to get elected to Lok Sabha and leave Punjab asap!!! Another pointer to Congress's haalath in Punjab…… because had Congress even a slight chance of returning to power Singla would not have been interested to stand for a Lok Sabha seat!!!! Amrinder spent his term flying about and staying away form Punjabis and his sidekick Singla spent his five years in Five Star Hotels and also stayed away from Punjabis!!!

HT-IBN Poll gives an equal vote share to SP and BSP!!!!
Whereas ground reality is that there is a huge anti incumbency swell against SP!!!

Post UP elections SP will mean Sacked Party!!! Psephology can never work in UP too.....because of the voting on caste and religious basis….. not possible to draw up a representative sample!!! Congress can improve its position by doing some innovative and accurate Surveys… selection of candidates, issues and status….. not the shallow HT-IBN kind!!!! To keep Mulayam out Congress should not be averse to becoming Saathi of Haathi…… Congress need not ride the Haathi ( become part of BSP Government) but should walk along (outside support) !!! Fact is BJP and BSP make the ideal partners as BJP cannot spawn on BSP's vote bank and BSP cannot spawn on BJP's vote bank!!!!

Congress has to realize that price rise is going to hit it hard in polls,
So to control prices should be one of Congress's main goal's!!!

Rising prices are really hurting and will hit Congress hard in upcoming polls!!! In the UP Polls price rise is an issue that Mulayam is going to use to blast Congress!!! Pawar couldn't care less for UP Polls and will only be too happy if Congress does badly in the UP Polls!!! So its time Congress appropriated the blame for the price rise and took some action!!! As for Pawar as long as he gets a 'malai' Ministry he couldn't care less if he was shifted to another portfolio!!!

Why NCP ke kiye in the MC elections is he doing kaam???

Sanju Baba is campaigning for NCP in the MC elections!!! His Dad was a die hard Congressman and his sis is a Congress MP…. Dutts are Congressis!!! Campaigning for NCP is like stabbing Congress in the back!!!! And now he's got Circuit to join him in the campaigning….. short circuit ho saktha hai!!!! And by the way this is no time for him to play politics.... isn't he supposed to be settling his personal affairs..... the excuse he's given to the Court?????

CMD of the Indian Bank, K C Chakravarthy, is likely to be moved to Punjab National Bank to succeed S C Gupta.

SBI registers decline in profit
State Bank of India (SBI) has registered a net profit of Rs. 3,048.11 crore in nine months ended December 31, 2006, registering a decline of 14.22 per cent when compared with the net profit of Rs. 3,553.38 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year. And the SBI boss is O P Bhat.

NBCC BAGS SCOPE EXCELLENCE AWARD

National Building Construction Corporation(NBCC)-Indian construction major,of which the head is Arup Roy Choudhury has bagged the prestigious "SCOPE AWARD for excellence and outstanding contribution to the public sector management - special institutional (turnaround)category"for its outstanding business performance during 2005-06,said its Public Relations Manager B.Bhattacharya.The Award will be presented to the Corporation by Indian Prime Minister Dr.Man Mohan Singh during the Conference of Chief Executives of Public Sector Enterprises to be held in New Delhi on March 8,2007.

When asked for his comments on winning of the SCOPE Excellence Award,Mr.Arup Roy Choudhury,Chairman-cum Managing Director of the NBCC, giving account of NBCC's Turnaround Saga stated that the Corporation by virture of its outstanding performance over the last 5-6 years,has become the largest Construction PSU in the Country.The NBCC he said, is poised to attain the status of one of the "Mini Nav Ratnas" shortly.He also said that NBCC, from the current financial year, would start declaring dividend and also make it a listed Company in very near future.

Instituted by the Standing Conference of Public Sector Enterprises (SCOPE),this award is given every year to a PSU which performs outstandingly during the year.The eminent Jury, headed by Justice P.N.Bhagwati and comprising members - Dr.Abid Hussain, Mr Hiten Bhaya, Dr Arujun Sengupta,Mr Moosa Raza and Dr.S.M.Dewan, decided the award by evaluating the performance of Public Enterprises on the basis of different parameters.
