FORUM Without IAS we can not think of Indian Democracy I have been watching this space for quite a long time. I have seen people have anti IAS bias. I don't know why they feel so!!!! If you see the advertisement of civil services coaching then they write IAS exam instead of civil services exam. This itself shows the popularity and respect an IAS carries. If one sees other services like IPS/IFS/IRS they are only departmental people whereas an IAS is always appointed as their head...why???? because IAS got better ranks than all these services people put together. If some services think that they are doing greater work then let them go to the public and ask the public about the perception of their services. I would propose all my journalist friends as well as editor of this prestigious website that they should not let these rubbish claims gain popularity and only on the basis of credible sources they should publish it. Without IAS we cannot think of Indian democracy and Indian bureaucracy. I think other services should not be given the Rs 26000 fixed pay scale only then they will realise their true status. Democracy and openness in media has let these people express their views in a rather absurd manner. They should accept they reality. Yashraj Disband entire civil service Disband entire civil service. The country will progress. K S Reddy It is greed that motivates army men to leave the service It is not that the perks in the army are less. In fact, no other government
office can boast of such luxuries as the army. It is the greed that
motivates them to leave the service. Kartikeya Hindi in safe hands CONGRATULATIONS I feel that Hindi is in safe hands if we have more and more people

Does this mean that the present lot of IAS officers who are holding key positions in the Government are not efficient and effective because of their non training in a country abroad? And what exactly are they going to learn during the training? Is there anything which is not available in India? If it is a picnic, then please say so. Ravi I agree with Gen Sidhu I agree with Gen Sidhu that no system is bad if it is implemented properly and with "Tact" i.e transparency, accountability ,commitment and trust. What is required is that professionals to man the system. Doctors not necessarily are good administrators. IAS also is not solution for every department. There are good administrators in GoI; what is required for DoPT to look around contribution of Mayank Sharma ,IDAS who was senior FA in administration of AIIMS is a case in point.
