High profile trials & its blues

Justice A R Lakshmanan's outburst in the court against an anonymous letter which was not placed on records is a virtual replica of the Justice S N Variava's act who was involved in the trial against Indian Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav two years ago. Either judges at different times had alleged that they were being pressurized. Co-incidentally both judges were members of the bench with Justice S H Kapadia in the trial against Laloo Prasad Yadav. These two cases have left investigating agencies baffled as no record is placed before them or a complaint is lodged to investigate these incidents against Lordships so that the public is told the entire truth.

FORUM

(The views expressed in this column are necessarily of their respective contributors. We do not own any responsibility, whatsoever, about these contributions).

The move is a good one. If the Government accepts the argument that teacher's mind is active till the age of 70, where they have to teach the younger brilliant students, then we hope the same arguments will be used to increasem the retirement age of Govt. officers well beyond 62. University teachers have to take classes for a limited hours in a week like Government officials who take more responsibility and are putting more than 40 hours a week in their jobs. Those who criticise such a move have a right to leave the Government service after putting in 20 years by taking voluntary retirement but those who are healthy/ active, mentally and physically fit, and wish to continue should not be stopped by any superannuation limit of age. After all experience and maturity has more relevance in governance.

Towards a better Civil Service

With regard to the post of Ramachandru, the debate about the Civil Services serves a very useful purpose. It is our goal to create a better Civil Service so that the citizens are better served. Everything else is subordinate to it. Just because a certain service serves in districts does not entail it to be rewarded with senior posts in the Government of India to the detriment of those services that predominantly serve in the cities. Posts in the civil service are not gifts to be awarded to one person or the other or one Service or the other. Public interest is paramount and if the IRS/IAAS/CSS is most suitable so be it. Thanks to such forum as Whispers we atleast see a debate that challenges the present order with the IAS ruling the roost. Today, sadly the governance is completely hijacked by the IAS as is shown by the complete takeover of the senior posts, information commissioner posts and now with the planned takeover of CAT appointments. It is high time that we have a system that places the most suitable person to the post, regardless of the service. Further, instead of protecting the Civil Service the government should be open to place professionals directly into the civil services. Why can't an MBA be a district collector and why not a Lawyer or Chartered Accountant be Commissioners in the Tax or Accounting Departments respectively

Do not raise the retirement age - weed out the deadwood

The raising of the retirement age beyond 60 is a conspiracy by the well entrenched bureaucrats against the common man. It is surprising that the government cannot see through the game-plan. It is necessary to raise the retirement age for Professors in Specialized institutions and for Scientists as we are facing a massive shortage of these very important group of persons. On the other hand bureaucrats are dime a dozen and hardly critical for the growth of the country as they have failed miserably on most fronts. We should do exactly the reverse. We need to weed out the deadwood from the bureaucracy. I am afraid that the bureaucrats would piggy-back on the raise in the retirment age for scientists and professors and demand similar treatment for themselves. But, with the PM surrounded by the IAS, I wonder if he would get a chance to listen to non-bureaucrats. He should encourage the Professors and Scientists by raise their salaries well beyond that of the Secretaries and not get tied down by salary being linked to grade.
Raja Mohan

Move to raise retirement age is good

If teaching then why not table work ?
If teaching can be done till the age of 65, why not table work in the Government.
Ravi

Retirement age should not be raised

The PM before increasing the age of Civil Servants to 62 should visit the North East and see for himself how unemployed youths in thousands sit idly on both sides of the roads and drug themselves. We cannot compare ourselves with Western countries mindlessly as they dont have such a large young unemployed population. Retirement age of Government servants should not be increased so that young can be employed.

It,s a good achievement of Dr Tiwari

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Hope Centre too has received the Telegram!!
The one that was sent from Nandigram!!!

Kamal Nath does not know what he's talking!!!
As SEZs he continues hawking (selling)!!!

In SEZs today the most vital facet is land acquisition,
And at present SEZs biggest affliction!!!

Unless Sarkar doesn't clear its head on this,
Things will continue to be amiss!!!

For SEZs Government should not acquire land,
And should encourage that SEZs be set up on wasteland!!!!

If Farmland is acquired then Package should include loss of livelihood,
People being displaced in its entirety should be understood!!!

Buddhadeb Sarkar has got a slap on its mooh,
WB Scholars have let out a collective boo!!!

They've returned their awards to voice their protest,
On Nandigram's mishandling and brutality showed their detest!!!

Buddhadeb needs so be sacked,
Because his own people he attacked!!!

Bengal's Tinnamen is a huge blot on it,
But the pyre of forced land acquisitions for SEZs in WB has been lit!!!

Singur is next…… Tata's better be ready,
And if they don't heed to ground realities things could get heady!!!

Heady meaning here too things could come to head,
And here too WB Sarkar will back out after shooting some protesters dead!!!

Now its rumoured that Amrinder has gone to meet the Queen!!!
Just yesterday in London he's alleged to have been seen!!

His sidekick Chahal is already there…. rumoured that accounts are being squared,
After all in all the alleged 'guplas' both have been allegedly paired!!!

Chahal's son or daughter in law or wife has sought stay in UK as an Investor…. Independent Means,
Very soon on this too there are going to be spilled beans!!

Big B or Big Badal says that its time to work for the State,
And to stop this feeling of hate!!

For one he says Treasury Benchers and Opposition have not broken bread for some time,
That's because in Amrinder's time even to smile at the Opposition was a crime!!!!

Amrinder literally vitiated the atmosphere with hate,
In the Vidhan Sabha he chose to insult and threaten as was his way to debate!!!

Badal says that Leader of Opposition can call him any time,
And said that Bhattal should understand that working for the State together is not a crime!!!

PC wants P Notes to continue for another three years,
This despite the 'tainted' and ' anti India' money fears!!!

SEBI's Damodran says Investors will be encouraged to invest directly,
But that does not mean it'll stop those who are investing indirectly!!!

PC supported higher rate of inflation and faced huge dissension,
He turns red in the face on Inflation word ka mention!!!

Very soon his P Note love will end him in the dock,
He seriously needs to take stock!!

PC cannot be the watchdog and watch robbers making hay,
Or show robbers how to get into the Vault and away the underground way!!!!

Warning….. if you mess with SP gang they will kick you till you cry out in pain,
In SC see what happened…..from Judge's tears SP did gain!!!

SP's philosophy is everything is fair to gain in politics or to save your hide,
By this philosophy they abide!!!

Hope you've seen the Pepsi ad….. ladegaa toh jeethegaa,
Aur joh nahi ladegaa uss ko Bangladesh bhi peetegaaa!!!

Rather than Tigers at the end of the ad they should use shaggy cats,
Being chased away with balls and bats!!!

Sehawag should be recalled immediately …… karro iss ko can,
And on Captain interfering in Team selection there should be a ban!!!

Pawar has the reverse Midas touch …. anything he touches turns to crap,
In both Agriculture and Cricket India's got the rap!!!

If India does not make it to Semis then quite a few need to be punished,
To the African jungles Pawar, Selectors , Greg and the Team should be banished!!!

Mukesh Ambani eyeing for Dow Chemicals

India's leading industrial magnet, Mukesh Ambani is eyeing on Dow Chemicals. Ambani has made a bid at $ 30000 Billion(Thirty thousand American Dollars), biggest in Indian history. It is the same multinational company (MNC) into which Union Carbide Corporation(UCC) was merged, a few years ago. It is also worth mentioning that infamous Bhopal poison gas leak disaster of December 3,1984 had taken place in a pesticides factory that was being run by UCC's Indian subsidiary.
