Good move to increase the retirement age It would be a good move to increase the retirement age upto 65 years
for all bureaucrats. In earlier days a person used to join government
service generally at the age of 24 years. Now the trend is first to
aquire professional qualifications and then join government service.
Officers now join at the age of abot 27 to 30 years with professional
qualifications like LL.B, MBA, Engineering, Medicine etc. Consequently
their life gets settled around 62 years instead of 60 years. Further,
even the average age of an Indian has now enhanced because of good medical
aids and an officer continues to remain active and mentally alert upto
the age of 70 years. This already stands proved as the teachers and
bureaucrats in CIC, Tribunals, judges etc are already working upto the
age of 65 years. Therefore is would be a correct move to increase the
retirement age of bureaucrats upto the age of 65 years. In praise of the President Yes. It should be done before he relinquishes the Post. He has been
our best performing President. If the government and the political parties
all over India, just take up only 10% of his suggestions for phased
and planned development of India in the next 10 years, India would be
free of many ills like water shortage, unemployment, poverty etc. He
has truly acted as a Statesman and not a politician or a bureaucrat.
