B.C.Khanduri tightens administration

Uttarakhand Chief Minister B.C.Khanduri has tightened the administration. He has not only restricted officials from keeping more than one car with them,but even asked them that all officials touring Delhi will travel by train.Thus,a ban has been put on road journeys by bureaucrats from any part of Uttarkhand to Delhi by car.Hitherto each official possessed more than a car,In certain cases number of cars went up to four.According to a rough estimate nearly 50 cars have been withdrawn.This will enable the state ex chequer to save at least Rs.10 crore per annum.As per austerity drive no official irrespective of his/her post or rank is supposed to leave his/her office without switching off lights,fans and air conditioners.

Retirement age should not be raised

Retirement should at no cost be raised in Government services. The majority of people who are to retire are good for nothing and simply want to pass their time with ease in Government service. Let us not give any further opportunity to such people. Vanaprastha Ashram is the best place for them at present. Let us give some time to younger people to establish themselves.

Retirement age should be raised to 65

I agree with the views of R S Bhatia that the age of Government employees must be increased to 65 years. The Government has already reemployed many bureaucrats above the age of 60 years. This shows that there is a need of these officers after even 60 years and that they are fully fit to continue with the work upto 65 years. More so many tribunals, quasi judicial forums have officers upto 65 years of age. I think Government must officially increase the age of its employees upto 65 years officially and extend the benefits to all its employees instead of restricting it to some few officers and cadres.

Whisper about Hillary Clinton being advised by some Indian Astrologer makes interesting reading. I have Astrology running in my family as a sacred tradition for so many generations. My book "Understanding Indian Astrology" has been reasonably well received by those interested in the subject both in India and abroad. Having gone through the original texts of ancient Indian scholars like Varahmihi, Kalyan Varma, Ganesh Devagya, Dhundiraj (to cite just a few) I can say with authority that there is no way whereby the size of margin -whether for victory or defeat - could be quantified.(What can be predicted is victory or defeat as per the horoscope of Hillary and the Mahadasha etc. She might be passing through at the time of election).
For all I can guess therefore is that the concerned Astrologer might be simply taking a chance. This may be good for him individually as he stands to be rewarded if king chance decides to remain on his side. However as far as this ancient Indian branch of knowledge is concerned it remains a loser any which way. If the fellow's guess goes wrong, the entire discredit comes to Jyotish (and not to the individual) with its critics losing no time in denouncing it as numbo jumbo. One should therefore be vary of such soothsayers.

Airports Economic Regulatory Authority on the anvil
