ASI to charge foreigners in Rupees
Presently the entry fee in the ticketed monuments of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for foreigners are US $ 5 per head for World Heritage Sites and US $ 2 per head for other monuments. These rates were fixed when exchange rate of US $ was about Rs.50/- per US $. However, keeping in view the international practices and also to avoid any anomaly on account of falling exchange rates of US $ vis-à-vis Rupee and consequent fall in revenues, the Government has decided to denominate the entry fee for the foreigners for all the monuments in Indian Rupees only i.e., @ Rs.250/- and Rs.100/- per person respectively.

Dr Kalam to address a galaxy of scientists

Former President of India Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam will enlighten a galaxy of scientists who will assemble in Bhopal from November 22,2007.He is going to be in Bhopal at valedictory function of four day "Indian Science Congress." Excellent comments. However I want to add in this that engineers have been forcibly sent into quarters by not allowing HRA and lease and higher grade officers have been exempted from this so that they can make money from their own house. Officers in the rank chief and above openly say that we will eat rasgulla and you newly recruited engineers will be given two small piece of sugar because we are working for more than 20 years.

Directorate of Estates

I fully agree with Ram Narayan Garg regarding his observations about Directorate of Estates in allowing some officials to retain government accommodation long after they ceased to be eligible because of transfer/retirement or other reasons. Even after apprising Director of Estates about curious case of some officers of Directorate General of Defence Estates continuing to occupy general pool accommodation even after construction of departmental accommodation in Oct 2005. No action has been taken even though Directorate of Estates is learnt to be very tough in dealing with class 3 or 4 employees in case it finds any subletting on their part. Garg has rightly said that what is the use of e-governance when wrong things can merrily continue and there is no fear whatsoever among the defaulters. Now when vigilance machinery is too weak and ineffective, your website is doing a wonderful job in exposing cases of unbecoming conduct. At least weak hearted defaulters and those who have not yet become totally shameless can change their ways to avoid exposure and negative publicity.

Aviation companies allowed to hike capacities

In view of the increased air traffic during the winter holiday season, the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to allow airlines to increase their capacity during this period. To counter the winter rush, all airlines will be allowed to upgrade their aircraft to "any" capacity level on their existing frequencies at all airports in India. This facility will be available to the airlines from December 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008.

AAI pays dividend of Rs.112 crore

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on November 15, 2007 paid a sum of Rs. 112.00 crore as dividend to the Indian Government. This is its full and final dividend for the financial year 2006-07. Earlier AAI had paid an interim dividend of Rs. 60.00 crore to the Government of India in January 2007. With this, the total dividend payout for the year 2006-07 stands to Rs. 172.00 crore. This is the highest ever dividend paid by AAI to Government of India. The dividend cheque was handed over by Dr. K. Ramalingam Chairman AAI to Praful Patel Indian Minister for Civil Aviation in Delhi. Ashok Chawla Secretary Civil Aviation, Board Members of AAI and other senior officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation were also present on the occasion. During the year 2006-07, Airports Authority of India earned highest ever revenue of Rs. 3726.00 crore and earned profit after tax of Rs. 860.00 crore. During the year 2006-07, AAI incurred highest ever capital expenditure of Rs. 1040.00 crore to modernize the airports and passenger facilities all over the country. AAI is also undertaking city-side development of 35 non-metro airports to meet the growing demand of civil aviation sector.
