CBI Director to continue till July,2008
If top sources are to be believed, CBI Director Vijay Shankar Tiwari will continue on the post even after the completion of his two years tenure in December 2007. Reason; He would be completing the present age of superannuation in July 2008 and the government has no objection in his continuing on the post till that time.

NBCC's foray into Power Generation

The National Building Construction Corporation(NBCC)of which Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD)is Arup Roy Choudhury,is now going to make forays into power generation.So far the NBCC had only constructed power plants,but it is for the first time that NBCC will have 74 per cent stakes in a power plant in which remaining 26 per cent equity will be that of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board(CSEB).The plant with a capacity of 1000 Mega Watt(MW) will come up in Marwahi (Chhattisgarh) & cost over Rs.4000 crore.

Air Marshal Barbora to move to Delhi
Shillong based Air Marshal P.K. Barbora will now move to a similar position at the New Delhi-based Western Air Command. He will succeed Air Marshal Padamjit Singh Ahluwalia who is retiring.

Four incumbents have been appointed as Additional Judges to the Gujarat High Court.They are:Kartikeya Madhusudan Thaker,Zahiruddin Khairuddin Saiyed,Rajesh Harivadan Shukla & Janakray Chandubhai Upadhyaya.Their appointments will be in order of seniority for a period of two years with effect from the dates they assume charges of their respective offices.

Three incumbents have been appointed as Additional Judges to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.They are:Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Brij Mohan Gupta & Anil Prakash Shrivastava.They have been appointed for a period of one year with effect from November 25,2007.

Much has been talked about raising the retirement age of government servants. I want to put before you a very simple equation: There is a well qualified youth of 25 years old in your family and there is a father also of about 60 years old in the family. Would you recommend that the father should continue due to his or experience or the son should be given opportunity to serve the country? Please think before your recommendation. So let the youths come forward and take the lead.

I salute the Meghalaya Police force
I served in Meghlaya as SP in three districts. North East is an unique eye opener, a new reality for an outsider like me. The people are friendly and without complexities. Their needs are simple and mostly basic. They were exploited by business men, contractors, politicians, and finally by the 'babus' who are posted to this region. Meghalaya is a typical example of a case where corruption in administration resulted in militancy rather than any ideology. A few corrupt politicians, supported by corrupt babus, encouraged contractors to milk the state from projects. The ill gotten wealth of these few individuals took the flight out side the state for investment. The local youth, mostly educated but unemployed, crossed over to Bangaldesh, brought weapons and stated extortion, kidnappings and killings of these business men. The loot by these contractors, businessmen was forced to share with the militants. To justify gun culture, the youth created ideology. They started donating Ambulances to the villagers, distributed sports kits to village youth. This is how militancy started in Meghlaya.
Thanks to the untiring, committed police force of Meghlaya under the leadership of Shri B K Dey, IPS for the results they achieved in the last one year. The state is normal now. Militants surrendered in large numbers. As a proud member of IPS, I salute the police force of Meghlaya.

I fully agree with Sudhir Chopra. As long as the inefficiency, corruption and high handedness is limited in publicity, it does not cause agony. Now the same old feudal mental set up gets exposed in RTI and internet and causes not only heart burn but encourages ithers toi be more bold in their corruption. Director of estates, on their website "www.estates.nic.in" is typical example of what is called "Chori, upar se Seenajori" ( theft compounded with boldness) in our language. It is high time that such details of this site are treated like PIL and concerned officers investigated upon.
