INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK

The biggest advantage of PLI is that, its low on premiums & high on returns. PLI does not spend much in procurement of business in the form of payment of commission to the agents etc. and in turn pass on the surplus in the form of handsome bonus to the insurants, said Mrs.Anju Dasgupta Member I&FS.
In an interview to <whispersinthecorridors.com> she said "The PLI products are designed in such a way that an employee can pay his premium in monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or in annual installments and get the maturity amount at the end of the term or at the time of his superannuation." Under PLI ,Mrs. Anju Dasgupta said "some rebate is also given for advance payment of premium." Answering another question Mrs.Dasgupta said "RPLI is growing at a rate exceeding 40% in recent years and has created a very good impact on rural population" Moreover she said "not just residents of rural areas but also persons ordinarily resident in a village but temporarily located in an urban area - e.g. labourers and construction workers - or even NRI's abroad - are eligible to take a Rural PLI Risk Coverage upto Rs.3 lakhs is provided under RPLI."

What is Postal Life Insurance (PLI) ?

A-Postal Life Insurance(PLI) is the oldest life insurance scheme in India. This was introduced in the year 1884. PLI is meant for all Central & State Government employees & employees of public sector undertakings, universities, government aided educational institutions, nationalized banks, local self bodies and those who are in the defence services as well as paramilitary forces.Under this the risk coverage is upto Rs.10 lakh .

Is there any advantage in PLI as compared to Life Insurance products of other Life Insurance Service providers in India ?

A-Premiums in PLI schemes are much lower as compared to the premiums charged by other corporations and companies for life coverage. Also the bonus rates are substantially higher in PLI as compared to similar schemes of other Life Insurance Companies. This is possible because operational cost of PLI is much lower and it operates through the infrastructure of nearly 1,56,000 Post Offices spread all over the country. PLI does not spend much in procurement of business in the form of payment of commission to the agents etc. and in turn pass on the surplus in the form of handsome bonus to the insurants.

What are the different products under PLI ?

A-PLI has Endowment Assurance Schemes, Whole Life Assurance Policies, Convertible Whole Life Policies, Anticipated Endowment Assurance Policies, Joint Life Endowment Assurance Policies (Yugal Suraksha) for such couples both of whom are entitled for PLI coverage and Children Policies for such insurants who are already having PLI policies. The PLI products are designed in such a way that an employee can pay his premium in monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or in annual installments and get the maturity amount at the end of the term or at the time of his superannuation. The details of the policies are available on the web site of the Department of Posts: <indiapost.gov.in>

How one pays his premium ? What happens in the case of transfer of an insurant ?

A- Government employees have the option of paying premium by monthly deduction from salary. One can also deposit his premium through any Post Office. Some rebate is also given for advance payment of premium. Payment of premium in PLI schemes is very transparent and convenient. If an insurant is transferred say from one place/State to another, his policy is also transferred to his new place of posting and he can continue to pay his premium in usual way.

What is Rural PLI, in what way is it different from PLI ?

A-Rural PLI was introduced in 1995 as a result of the recommendation of the official committee for reforms in the insurance sector (Malhotra Committee). The prime objective of this scheme is to provide life insurance cover to the rural public in general and to benefit weaker sections and women workers of rural areas in particular and also to spread insurance awareness among the rural population. The schemes under Rural PLI are similar to those under PLI. However, the premium tables and bonus rates are different. RPLI is growing at a rate exceeding 40% in recent years and has created a very good impact on rural population.

Not just residents of rural areas but also persons ordinarily resident in a village but temporarily located in an urban area - e.g. labourers and construction workers - or even NRI's abroad - are eligible to take a Rural PLI Risk Coverage upto Rs.3 lakhs is provided under RPLI.

Who told what to whom in UPA Co ordination committee meeting?

Pranab Mukherjee to Prakash Karat-
Why are you making the nuclear deal such a big issue? Please allow it to go through.

Prakash Karat to Pranab Mukherjee-
Do you want us to be like NDA who put the issues of Lord Rama's temple, Article 370 & Kashmir issue on the back burner? They paid a price by facing virtual disintegration in the BJP.

Lalu Prasad Yadav to Left Front & UPA Chairperson-
The Left Front doesn't want the deal, while the Congress wants the deal. But, deal or no deal, I will be a done deal after the polls (Lok Sabha),as the electorate will throw me
about ,so please think about me.

Sharad Pawar to Mrs.Sonia Gandhi-

Politics has no permanent friends or foes

In politics there are no permanent friends or foes. The Samajwadi Party (SP) & Congress are talking for a possible coalition in Uttar Pradesh. As the grapevine has it, Gandhi family friends & one time SP's "money bag"Saleem Sherwani has met Congress chief Mrs. Sonia Gandhi twice, on behalf of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. It is understood while the Congress High Command is upset with UP Chief Minister & Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) president Miss Mayawati's attacks on Congress, SP is under pressure from its well wishers like Anil Ambani & Subrato Roy to bury the hatchet with Congress & join hands.

TAIL-PIECE

A chap and his wife were relaxing in the living room. He said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and taking fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

She got up, unplugged the TV,and threw out his beer bottle.

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Commies have turned from red to yellow and are worried,
No wonders to announce a Festive Season truce Commies were very hurried!!

Commies have given UPA and actually themselves a Festival Deal,
And said that after the Festival Season with what's on the table they'll deal!!

Laloo was jumping with joy……. he knows RJD will face rout in Bihar ,
If midterm poll is held RJD ko padhe gi boori tarha se maar!!!

Laloo knows that RJD is going to face banwaas!!!
For next Lok Sabha term we'll be saved from Laloo's bakwaas!!!

Now the Laloo dolls and toffees have all disappeared as Public now has realized the truth,
That Laloo was a cruel joke that fate played on them and now they consider him as uncouth!!

Karat and Bardhan too showed their glee!!!
Relief on their face was easy to see!!!

And in the end India became the laughing stock overseas!!!
The joke is that India 's future is at stake because UPA forgot to say to the Commies 'please'!!!

Congress's worry is that will it be able to make up for the loss as Allies are expected to do badly???
Congress would grab any new Allies gladly!!!

Maya and Jaya are two possible Allies but both will demand a huge price,
Maya will demand she be made PM and Jaya would like to be PM in disguise!!!

On midterm polls to Congress Laloo, Karuna, Pawar and Paswan must have made their fears clear!!!
And there is no doubt that there is merit in their fear!!

Useless and Petered-out Alliance will be the new meaning of UPA if midterm polls are held!!!
Will disintegrate as today power karr rahi hai Alliance ko weld!!!

Bottom line is what is Congress's feeling….. can it come near the half way mark????
And seems it feels it can and that's why on a confrontation line Congress ne kiya hai embark!!!

PC has already presented the Budget for Agriculture and will present more such mini Budgets soon,
And he's going to promise us the moon!!!

BJP too seems has gone into midterm election mode,
BJP's central envoys have hit the road!!!

But BJP has still to sort out Neta and Neeti,
When it was clear on these two BJP thi jeethi!!!

Some mending needs to be done by BJP to stem the fragmentation of its votes!!!
And if this is done BJP's Vote Bank bloats!!!

And BJP has to realize its rural India that decides which Party will rule in Dilli,
Not recognizing this means being pure and simple silly!!

Maya's maya!!
As her successor appointed her bhaiyaa!!!

Behena ne Rakhi bandan nibhaaya,
Bhai ko successor banayaa.

Leadership is in the genes!!
Or is the end to keep it all in the family and appointing her bro as her successor the means????

And then BSP is a Sole Proprietorship,
And Proprietor is the Captain and Owner of the ship!!

Everyone else in BSP is a mere deck- hand!!!
On Proprietor's rocketing affluence Deck- hands have to keep their heads in sand.

Hope her bro is not like Mulayam's bro Shivpal…. woe if they are the same????
As we all know Shivpal is known on account of the wrong kind of fame!!

Seems the Red Wheat matter has been swept under the carpet …. Pawar has the clout!!!!
On his managing controversies there is no doubt!!!

In fact many a Politician in a corner has turned to him for know how!!!
In fact he can pen a book for politicos…. Controversies should never cow!!!

It's said that when a Bull run is coming to an end the Market becomes ludicrous,
And as you must have noticed both evaluations and market rise have become ridiculous!!

Udyan of CNBC says that Markets are now not affected by political activity!!
Is he trying to be witty?????

Fact is FII Managers are privy to a lot of inside info on Indian political activity... are in the know!!!
There is a minute to minute political activity info flow!!!

And the market breadth is worrying....... market breadth has been too narrow or negative,
So how's the Market being so positive????

IBN in its Big B fixation is collecting Big B's photos…. advertised that photos be sent to IBN!!!
Its Bahchcan's Network is the meaning of IBN!!!

Rekha must be having a stash of Big B with her pics,
And this is for sure these pics will not be from her and Big B's pics (movies)!!!

Confucius says…. Icons should be upright,
Icon stand for everything right!!!
