UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi is reportedly quite upset over the sting operation that was carried out by Tehelka.com for "Aaj Tak".Through the sting operation Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been projected in a bad light vis- a vis Gujarat riots.It has come about six weeks before Gujarat goes to polls,owing to which Congress leaders have gone into a tizzy. Instead of launching an offensive, Congressmen have been forced to play on the backfoot.Reason is simple. Once again polarisation of votes will be beneficial to the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP)in Gujarat.

HCC net profit up 179% to Rs 11.63 cr for Q2 2007-08

The Hindustan Construction Corporation(HCC)has improved its operating margins substantially to 11% for the Q2 2007-08 from 9.4% in the corresponding period last year. The company has submitted tenders worth Rs 4559 crore which are under evaluation at client end. The company also reported that the tenders under its own evaluation where it is pre-qualified to bid are over Rs 12377 crore. HCC received three major orders in transportation and water sector worth Rs.983 crores. These include Rs. 774.64 crore (HCC share Rs 256 crore) order of construction of two underground stations and a tunnel between New Delhi and Talkatora Garden stations from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and two projects from BMC for water tunnel construction worth Rs.727 crores

Air India connects Jaipur and Lucknow to Dubai

Air India Express today announced its direct operations to Dubai from Jaipur and Lucknow. This service will be effective from the new winter schedule, which is scheduled to be announced on October 28, 2007. Operating thrice a week, these new flights are aimed at catering to the large expatriate population origin residing in the UAE, who at present need to travel via Delhi or Mumbai.
Air India Express will operate on the Jaipur-Dubai route Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while the Lucknow-Dubai flight will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
