FORUM Retirement age should be 82 It is best if the retiring age is increased to 82 years instead of the proposed 62 years. The problem of digging wells can be solved by giving every govt, servant who reaches the age of 60 a shovel and a pick axe so that he may take necessary action from his end.Further 82 years will mean death in harness for most govt. servants as the average life expectancy in india is 65 years. The offspring of govt. servants can be accomodated this way. This would be in line with the Hindu caste system which is based on birth and varna. It is a well known fact that after retirement in India people die in about 3 years . If the retirement age is 60 then most retired govt. servants will be dead by 63 years all together.Wood for cremations is scarce these days and so many cremations all at once would lead to deforestation and further global warming. In order to prevent an ecological disaster it is best to increase the retirement age to 82 years. D Choudhury Country needs young blood Everyone recommending enhancement in age of retirement must deeply think what mishraji has highlighted. Today the country needs young blood and as far as experience is concerned everyone above the age of 50 is very well expereinced and capable of guiding the younger generation hence logic of raising the age is not tenable. Mukesh Experience counts experience counts a lot especiaaly in govt. organizations on higher levels.soldier may be a young recruit but commander should always be a experienced one.hence increasing the retirement age would definitely benefit the govt. further at this level most of the beauraucrates work on policy issues which need long working and experience in govt. system.at last when there is no age limit to be the primeminister or cabinet minister why cant we increase the retirement age upto 65 years incase of talented and experienced bureaucrates. Vivek Pandey Why DA Can't be exempted from IT ? I understand that Dearness Allowance (DA) is given to neutralise the
rising cost of living since it is linked to the wholesale price index.
What I dont understand is that why should it not be exempted from income
tax. Ramesh Chhabra Modi will win Yes, I agree, Mr. Modi will win the Elections. I have visited Gujarat during the CM-ship of many others. It was a far better place in Mr. Modi's tenure. 2ndly, Mr. Modi's ability to pick feedbacks and doing homework before any event make him a Mr. Right. No doubt, controversies do arise but one cannot please every Tom, Dick and Harry. Inderjeet Singh Why IRS are leaving ? its really high time that the Finance ministry should do some introspection
and do something for the betterment of service conditions.Gone are the
days when govt was the lone job provider.Opportunities are plenty beyond
the Govt jobs and ministry should do something to prevent the drain
of its resources. How long will the ministry preach--Taruvar fal nahi
khat hai, sarvar na piyat nir, parmarath ke karan santan dhara sharir. Aaj Ki Aawaz In Gujarat seems Modi will benefit because of the Tehelka sting!!! Bharat Kumar -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GOD FATHERS OF PSUs ? CONCOR's forays into coastal shipping Container Corporation Of India (CONCOR ), of which Managing Director is Rakesh Mehrotra, as a true multi modal operator has made forays into coastal shipping. It has already done some trial shipments earlier from places in South India where it moves cargo by road to its terminal in Cochin. The cargo is stuffed in the containers there & thereafter moved by inland vessels to Kandla, for onward railing from there to North Indian hinterland. The company is tying up with some vessel operators for reactivating this corridor so that it is able to combine the true strengths of railways and coastal shipping and move cargo from its terminals in South India to its terminals in North India. According MD CONCOR Rakesh Mehrotra, provisions will also be made for door delivery of cargo at both ends by means of road transport. As per CONCOR's estimates, this will bring down the total transportation costs by around 20% as against current scenario of direct movement of these consignments from South India to North India, with intermittent transfers enroute. Likewise a lot of cargo is likely to move from North India to South India once the movements become viable. To provide similar services to the neighbouring countries, CONCOR has started Rail-Cum - Shipping services for exports from Northern Hinterland to the Port of Chittagaon in Bangladesh, added Rakesh Mehrotra.Based on the success of this project, similar services will be extended to other countries as well. Castrol's more car engine friendly product launched. The Castrol India Limited has launched Castrol Magnatec, a specially formulated engine oil, using synthetic technology, with the unique proposition of "Intelligent Molecules". According to V. Srikanth Vice President Marketing Castrol India Limited "sales in the mid-segment (segment B and segment C) category of the passenger car segment has seen a surge over the last decade owing to the rapid growth in the personal mobility space. The car owners of this segment are relatively less involved with the maintenance of their car yet seek reliable performance from their vehicle and are willing to pay a premium for the right maintenance and service. Castrol Magnatec has been formulated with synthetic technology that forms a stronger layer of protection from the moment you turn on the ignition thus ensuring that the engine performs at its peak for a longer duration."Typically, maximum wear and tear occurs to the engine during start up as the oil drains out if it has been turned off for a long period. Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Dravid, Brand Ambassador, Castrol Magnatec, said, "I am happy to be associated with a high performance brand like Castrol that incorporates cutting edge technology in all its products so as to bring out the best performance from the engine."
