WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US You have created a revolutionary concept -service to bureaucrats, politicians and businessmen. G N Goenka ONLY SOURCE TO REACH THE DECISION MAKERS ADVERTISE ON-WHISPERSINTHECORRIDORS.COM The biggest advantage of PLI is that, its low on premiums & high
on returns. PLI does not spend much in procurement of business in the
form of payment of commission to the agents etc. and in turn pass on
the surplus in the form of handsome bonus to the insurants, said Mrs.Anju
Dasgupta Member I&FS. What is Postal Life Insurance (PLI) ? A-Postal Life Insurance(PLI) is the oldest life insurance scheme in India. This was introduced in the year 1884. PLI is meant for all Central & State Government employees & employees of public sector undertakings, universities, government aided educational institutions, nationalized banks, local self bodies and those who are in the defence services as well as paramilitary forces.Under this the risk coverage is upto Rs.10 lakh . Is there any advantage in PLI as compared to Life Insurance products of other Life Insurance Service providers in India ? A-Premiums in PLI schemes are much lower as compared to the premiums charged by other corporations and companies for life coverage. Also the bonus rates are substantially higher in PLI as compared to similar schemes of other Life Insurance Companies. This is possible because operational cost of PLI is much lower and it operates through the infrastructure of nearly 1,56,000 Post Offices spread all over the country. PLI does not spend much in procurement of business in the form of payment of commission to the agents etc. and in turn pass on the surplus in the form of handsome bonus to the insurants. What are the different products under PLI ? A-PLI has Endowment Assurance Schemes, Whole Life Assurance Policies, Convertible Whole Life Policies, Anticipated Endowment Assurance Policies, Joint Life Endowment Assurance Policies (Yugal Suraksha) for such couples both of whom are entitled for PLI coverage and Children Policies for such insurants who are already having PLI policies. The PLI products are designed in such a way that an employee can pay his premium in monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or in annual installments and get the maturity amount at the end of the term or at the time of his superannuation. The details of the policies are available on the web site of the Department of Posts: <indiapost.gov.in> How one pays his premium ? What happens in the case of transfer of an insurant ? A- Government employees have the option of paying premium by monthly deduction from salary. One can also deposit his premium through any Post Office. Some rebate is also given for advance payment of premium. Payment of premium in PLI schemes is very transparent and convenient. If an insurant is transferred say from one place/State to another, his policy is also transferred to his new place of posting and he can continue to pay his premium in usual way. What is Rural PLI, in what way is it different from PLI ? A-Rural PLI was introduced in 1995 as a result of the recommendation of the official committee for reforms in the insurance sector (Malhotra Committee). The prime objective of this scheme is to provide life insurance cover to the rural public in general and to benefit weaker sections and women workers of rural areas in particular and also to spread insurance awareness among the rural population. The schemes under Rural PLI are similar to those under PLI. However, the premium tables and bonus rates are different. RPLI is growing at a rate exceeding 40% in recent years and has created a very good impact on rural population. Not just residents of rural areas but also persons ordinarily resident in a village but temporarily located in an urban area - e.g. labourers and construction workers - or even NRI's abroad - are eligible to take a Rural PLI Risk Coverage upto Rs.3 lakhs is provided under RPLI. First Conference of Heads of Police Training Insitutions of SAARC Countries
on October 8 & 9, 2007. Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri
Sriprakash Jaiswal flagged off the Meet with his inaugural address today
morning. In his address to the delegates, the Minister stated that "All
the success that a nation can achieve is built on a concrete foundation
of peace and tranquility in the society. As a country invests in the
future of the nation, there also has to be a conscious effort to strengthen
this foundation. The progress of a nation should be a reflection of
the progress in the economy and the social well being of its citizens.
With economic progress, some of the fault lines in a growing society
become wide. This brings additional responsibility on the police forces
to ensure that law and order is maintained and no segment, no matter
how minor is it, is oppressed. The police must be viewed as a fair,
efficient and honest service. The people must have confidence in the
professionalism of the police. While instilling fear in those breaching
the law and threatening the security of the country, the police, at
the same time must be perceived as friends by the law abiding common
citizens. Police forces across the world continue to face an increasingly
complex environment. New security threats have come to the fore, bringing
in their wake new challenges'. Governments across the world are trying
to grapple with them to formulate suitable responses. In a large, diverse
country of continental dimensions undergoing social, economic and political
change, the police job is even more challenging." He further stated
that as "we stand on the threshold of new beginnings of an exchange
of ideas and strategies relating to police training, we need to evolve
a shared vision of the future of our region. Such a vision must be rooted
in our common values and be based on our individual and collective strengths
that will enable South Asia to realise its full potential in the 21st
century." 1989 batch IPS to be IG in Uttarakhand Three 1989 batch IPS officers Mssrs Ram Singh Meena,Ashok Kumar and J C Pandey are being promoted to the rank of IG in Uttarakhand this month. S. N. Mishra will again be honorary secretary-general FORUM Suggestion for Mayawati Respected Maywati, allotting tickets and seats in MP to Thakurs and not to Brahmins is not fair. Your party should consider the persons of repute in social service and who can devote time and money for the upliftment of the downtrodden in the society. As your party had decided reservation to all with economically poor of upper class, you can achieve your motto of being Prime Minister of India. One thing more is that you should make Uttar Pradesh - a crime free state which will give peaceful atmosphere and bring investments in the field of infrastructure and industrial development. Once people of the state have peace of mind, they will think of heavy investments in the state which will bring prosperity in form of employment and taxes. Employ best brains as advisors in the state in the field of economy, infrastructure and industrial development and suggestions once accepted by the state be implemented. For poor people of the state, your Government should bring such good policies to provide employment, food and house that every person starts feeling happy and good of Madame Mayawati. For poor people, Government should identify areas in big cities and construct two rooms accommodation in multi stories buildings. Only one time allotment be made of the houses to poor down trodden families of the state on No Profit No Loss and construction work be awarded to builders with all the terms of charging the price. Hope this mail of mine will be sent to you. With my best wishes and regards to you, your party and your Government. R K Garg Why name is changed ? Actress Jodie Foster says "why Bombay has been changed to Mumbai", elementary ma'm ! since we could not make likes of V.T.,Prince of Wales museum, Minto Bridge and Harding Bridge, so we chose a softer and clever option of simply renaming them as Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus, museum, Shivaji bridge and Tilak bridge respectively. Ravi Pipal Government should sort out this issue in P & T In October 2005, the Department of Telecommunications gave options
to the officers of the Indian Telecom Service and the Indian P&T,
Accounts and Finance Service, Group-'A' to opt the Government or the
BSNL or the MTNL. The officers of the P&T, Accounts and Finance
Service as an ideal government servant exercised their option and about
sixty officers opted BSNL and MTNL. But the ITS officers did not exercise
their option. Hardly 1% ITS officers opted the BSNL or MTNL. There are
more than 2000 ITS officers are still in government but working in BSNL
and MTNL. All these officers are government servant but availing PSU
benefits. This is creating frustration among the officers of the Indian
P&T, Accounts and Finance Service. Denial of opportunity to these
officers to serve in the PSUs of DOT(BSNL/MTNL/TCIL etc.), even on deputation
basis is not only violation of the Principle of equity, but is discriminatory
and against the Public Policy of the Government of India. Rules must
be same for everybody. The ITS officers who have opted BSNL and MTNL
are also not happy, they have moved to the High Court, Delhi challenging
the terms and conditions of the Option. The frustration among the officers
is badly affecting the profits of the BSNL and MTNL. The Government
should take final and firm decision in this regards in the interest
of the public and the nation. Real evolution by IAS officer Having spent 20 years in Switzerland, the officer is indeed the right person to write about evolution of the "Indian" Administrative Service! Balachandra Iyer Delhi's Blueline Buses Delhi's Blue line buses are only following the golden example set by Sallu Baba [Salman Khan] and the Bollywood Bratpack comprising among others Sanju Baba [Sanjay Dutt] , Nandu Baba [the BMW case remember?] Rodu Baba [Rodriguez]and many other drunk and drugged Satans who routinely mow down sleeping civilians merely for sleeping at night .Of course they feel [next morning when sober] that they have done their patriotic duty of making others make the supreme sacrifice at the altar of India's population problem. They only think of the national interest even when drunk late at night driving at 180 kmph. D Choudhary Do not be biased towards IAS Ravi seems too biased towards IAS. The country is not run by Infosys or those who have gone abroad for good bucks but by people who perform in government. Blame politicians for fall in number of bold officers. N Kumar Doordarshan is a dead organization You do a good job. But you have yet to speak for professionals. In this fast changing world and economic strategies, it is the professional who has to call the shots. Prasar Bharati is in huge losses. World knows about that. But has the managers of country cared to look into this ? Doordarshan is a dead organisation - has anyone gone into that ? Eighth report of Standing Committee of Parliament has stated that professionals
be given the charge if AIR and DD have to be improved. Why the Govt.
has not done in that direction ? Why it is succumbing to the machinations
of IAS ? Staff is agitated. There are gate meetings and resentment all over. What happens if things become embarrassing for the Government. The PM is busy, UPA Chairperson should immediately intervene. Tailpiece : The acting DG, Doordarshan, a media professional of repute is being sidelined only because he belongs to the " reserved category ". What a shame for a party that follows Gandhiji's ideals. Rajiv Khandelwal I agree with Dewan I agree with Dewan that everyone takes liberties with Hinduism and Hindu beliefs. Actually this is one of the strengths of Hinduism. Debate and questioning the very basis of faith has been a Hindu preoccupation for millenia. Unfortunately this freedom has been abused by atheists and the three middle eastern religions of the world which not only detest each other but also gang up against Hinduism and Hindu beliefs on the ground of idol worship. The funny fact is that Muslims worship a pre-Islamic idol the Kaaba in Mecca and every Muslim is enjoined to make at least one pilgrimage to Mecca and worship the Kaaba. Our home grown critics of Hindu beleifs should do some research into this and maybe submit another affidavit in the court in due course. The three middle -eastern religions also revere their holy books, another product of the dry climate of the middle-eastern deserts. In India our holy traditions are oral because in our tropical and hot and humid climate, no book, however holy would survive. So why are the Bible , the Koran and the Torah worshipped? Is that rational? Does one worship a library, however holy? Maybe yet another affidavit in the court is called for. Adolf Hitler was a Roman Catholic and a Christian and yet he exterminated 6 million Jews. Now-a-days the Jews of Israel are behaving like the Nazis in relation to the Arabs. The Germans are now like the Jews of the past in that they are obsessed with money. Is this rational? Does this not merit one more affidavit in a court? George Bush has declared war on Islam like a dutiful medieval Christian . Is this rational? Surely yet another affidavit is called for? Ambika Soni has her work cut out for her. D Chaudhury All about Mr Lalli What the eminent BS Lalli has done to denude Prasar Bharti of considerable
revenue, is nothing new to him - it comes naturally!! So do the many
official trips, but at your and my expense - tabs are always picked
up by the State. Incidentally, when CGHS and defense officers cry for even basic medical treatment and entitlement, they are given short shrift and lame excuses regarding shortage of funds. Ch KS Sindhu Gone are the days Gone are the days when upright, honest IAS officers were in demand. Today, there are enough number of spineless officers keen to replace those with spine.
