While the first two batches feel uncertain about empanelment as Additional Secretary ,the other two are worried about empanelment as Joint Secretary. The only way officers of these 4 batches will feel re-assured is if the UPA stays and there is no political uncertainty so that the process of empanelment does not get delayed by mid term polls and change of Government.

Quota in AIS should be raised

Dr. Dutta has given a very good suggestion for CSS officers. On similar lines for state civil service officers quota for entry to AIS should be raised from the present 33% to 55%. This will provide a good balance and give opportunity to lot of good talents in the State Services to grow and serve the government in a better and motivated way. Merit cum seniority system must be introduced as a filter.

Rajnesh

Suspensions should be an eye-opener

The current news of arrest of Former DGP Punjab and suspension of 12 IPS Officers in UP and the spate of events in the past few years must serve as an eye opener to the Indian Civil servants. They must acknowledge that the only objective of Politicians is in getting their own interests served and the sufferers are the Civil Servants. The only advantage they get with proximity to any political group is a good posting and earning some amount of money and getting some favours. This money also goes away in wasteful expenditure by wives and spoiled children. It would be rather more appropriate if they fight for their own genuine rights, pay and perks and future requirements while going by the rule. If an Ex-MP can get a Rail pass for his whole life, lot of perks and facilities after retirement why this should not be given to a civil servant after his retirement. After all they are also quite under paid in terms of their counterparts in private sector.

Really sorry state of affairs in Rajasthan

Rajasthan had earned in good state from administration point of view but now it is at bottom. Victimization of junior has become a fashion and now a leader of stature of Parshad (councillor) can get an IAS shifted. Really sorry state of affairs. Those who want to work fairly are looking ways to get out but it also seems difficult. God must do something so that IAS officials in Rajasthan can seek solace.

N Kumar

Resignation of IRS officer

He is one among many who had left the service due to misuse of transfer policy by the powers that be to the advantage of a few on communal, regional and other considerations. Making most unhappy seems to be the board's policy. No wonder that, many officers find greener pastures out side the department.

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN.

The only question asked was- "Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the shortage of food in rest of the world".

The survey was a huge failure..... ... Do you know WHY?

In Africa they didn't know what 'food' meant.
In India they didn't know what 'honest' meant.
In Europe they didn't know what 'shortage' meant.
In China they didn't know what 'opinion' meant.
In the Middle East they didn't know what 'solution' meant.
In South America they didn't know what 'please' meant.
And in the USA they didn't know what 'the rest of the world' meant.

NHPC Officers Association is in quandry !

NHPC Officers Association has completed 25 years
and a function is being organised at Sri Fort Auditorium to mark
the occasion . NOA was set up at the initiative of
Mr. Yogendra Prasad in the early 80s. Mr. Prasad
retired as CMD of NHPC in 2005 but his relations with
the present management are far from cordial. Therefore
NOA office bearers are in a quandry whether to honour
Mr. Prasad or not. If they honour Mr. Prasad, this
will annoy the present management. If not, the whole
function will be a farce, according to insiders.

Breather to Sugar Industry likely

The comotosed sugar industry in India is likely to a breather as Delhi is going to decide about spicing up of diesel with Ethanol a by product that emerges when sugar is produced out of sugar cane juice. At present
five to ten per cent of ethanol is mixed in petrol.India generates 550 Million litres of Ethanol. However, when Delhi decides to permit mixing of Ethanol in diesel then it is estimated that its demand in India will go up to 2200 million litres per annum as against domestic production of 1300 million litres of Ethanol. If that happens then sugar industry may directly exctract Ethanol from sugarcane juice. That would really give a big boost to the sugar industry in India.
