Nowadays, it has diversified its news about posting, transfer, promotion of other cadres as well. In this sequel, it is a wondered when the promotion, posting and transfer of CSSS cadre officers in the rank of Senior PPS, who are also in the rank equivalent to Deputy Secretaries, will find mention! No doubt, the officers themselves and the regular readers of this forum feel elated and happy when they find their name is published in any media. Srinivasan Exam's are lotteries Accept it or not all the examinations are lotteries to some extent. R Singh Sirji : The boss "Boss is always right" I heard my boss proclaiming in a raised voice as I entered his cabin. As with many of his umpteen announcements, I did not quite agree with this one too, for the obvious reason of being his sub-ordinate. And for the same reason kept quiet-as on other similar occasions! And proceeded to make a hasty exit. However, I was curious to know the reason for his latest fit of anger. So with all ingenuity and resourcefulness (both being non-existent parts of my persona-according to my boss) at my command I promptly embarked upon the ambitious investigation. Since it was not an official task, I got help and co-operation from everyone. We were quite amused when the truth unfolded itself before us. A few days back our boss had been to the Head Office for attending a seminar not even remotely connected with his official functions. While in Delhi it dawned upon him that he could discharge some of his social responsibilities. So he availed of the opportunity to attend the wedding ceremony of his second cousin's niece which coincided with the date of the Seminar. As is usual in such gatherings the report on the deliberations held during the seminar was prepared in advance. Yet for the records and for the sake of satisfaction of the participants that they were indeed an integral part of very useful discussion which in due course would form the foundation of excellence in governance there was a group photograph of all the participants-including our boss. Since the photograph was not ready on the day of the seminar, it was mailed to him and reached him today only. His positioning in the photograph was at the root of his ire. It so happened that the boss was made to stand on a small stool as he was head and shoulders below others! He was not unhappy that he was forced to use artificial methods to reveal his true stature. Far from that! In fact from the stretch and expanse of his facial muscles from one ear to the other it appeared that he was laughing which emotion, according to insiders in the office, he exhibited only when he was happy. Our boss is of the firm view that even in photograph the boss should be shown in right perspective. But in the photograph he was shown in the left corner-which according to him obviously was not the right perspective. This amazing interpretation of the so-called universal rule-boss is always right-perplexed and amused us at the same time. But it was not joke. It was a serious matter. Very serious indeed! If his mood remains what it was when he first saw the group photograph, the shape-of- things-to-come would be horrifying to say the least. Leaves are likely to be rejected; sanction orders will be withdrawn; files will come back with adverse comments et cetera. A way out of this chakravyooh created by the group photograph had to be found. Quickly. Emergency meeting of all affected parties-which included everyone except the boss-was called. Brain storming session followed. And lo and behold! A solution was found in a matter of few cups of tea only. The young peon who joined our office after being rejected by many film producers at his attempts to win the- star-of-new-millennium contest came with bright and simple solution. While gazing at his charm in the mirror-his favorite pastime-he noticed that in the mirror his left hand seemed to be on the right! So was the case with the photograph too. Everyone agreed. The task of bringing this scientific fact to the notice of the boss was assigned to me. With some rehearsal and great apprehension I proceeded to convince the boss. Contrary to all our expectations the boss could grasp the pith of underlying complicated scientific principle in a flash. Anger vanished from his face like funds for relief of tsunami victims. A broad smile was painted on his face as in the photograph. He immediately expressed his happiness with retrospective effect. And proclaimed-this time in very reassuring tone-"boss is always right". I pretended to agree this time.
