1The discussions that are being posted on your site contain all issues starting from the interest of individuals own services to national interest and it is good that people are coming out openly with lot of good suggestions and views. In fact it has become a place where Govt. servants are opening their hearts who otherwise are very reserved people and it is also true that they cannot speak out much even on issues relating to their own interest due to code of conduct and many other reasons. Thanks for providing such a forum.

Views on CECs tilak utter nonsense
The views expressed on CEC's tilak is utter nonsense. What's wrong in that is not understandable? When Muslims in the security forces are allowed to have their beard on for religious purposes, Sikhs holding high offices are also allowed to have their turban, why this fuss on Gopalasami, I do not understand. For his information, it is the core of Vaishnivism and as Muslims put on their caps, it is the duty of every Hindu to put on tilak.

Please do not publish such rubbish just because some one writes it. If the same has been written on some other religion, by now a fatwa would have been issued in one way or the other.

Narasimha Sastry

Will Sindhu pose this question to the PM ?

This is with reference to Kuldip S Sindhu article 'Mark of Tilak'. In this connection Will Kuldip Sandhu pose this question to the Prime Minister who holds the highest office in the Country and ask him not to wear as it is visible mark of his faith his turban.

Awadhesh Kumar

I do not agree with Sindhu

I don't agree with Sindhu. It is like objecting to a Sikh wearing the turban or a kara or a kirpan. A tilak only distinguishes a person as professing particular religion and in a democracy every citizen has the right to profess his religion so long it does not offend the feelings or sentiment of the persons belonging to other religions. Singh needs to be broad minded and not smell like a fundamentalist.
S P Singal

Similarity between CEC and Pak President

The CECs scarlet tilak or the thin red line [remember the charge of the Light Brigade?] is no better and no worse than the pale blue turbans of Manmohan Singh and Montek Singh Ahluwalia. In fact, Monteks turban is unique in that it swims against the tide, from left to right instead of right to left. Is that an indication of what is inside the head? The State of Head of Heads of State is best displayed by our worthy neighbour President Musharraf. If the worthy CEC has a red exclamation mark on his forehead the Pakistani President has a red question mark on his head.

Quota of PCS officers should be raised

There has been a long standing demand of PCS officers is that the quota to promotion should be raised from existing 33% (which includes selection from NSCS also) to atleast 50%. If GOI so desires, it may consider selection from NSCS, but it should be over and above the promotion quota.
Similarly on promotion to IAS, it seems that the officers get only 10 years of seniority. It should be raised to atleast 12 years and entry to IAS on promotion should also be raised from existing 54 years to 56 years.
The sixth pay commission should make clear recommendations in thia regard.
