Novel experiments in Higher Education in MP
Taking over charge as Principal secretary Higher Education Department in Madhya Pradesh Ms Snehlata Srivastava found that number of files are pending in the Department and in the Directorate of Higher Education. She has started 'Nasti Nivaran Shivir' (File Disposal Camps) at the Divisional level. In the Camps organised at Rewa, Sagar and Ujjain in one day each camp total more than 500 files have been disposed of .
This effort not only reduces delay and red-tapism but provide for interaction with Principals and employees of different colleges. Even Government employees are pleasantly surprised to see that their cases are decided then and there itself and they do not have to run around for their work and visit Secretariate and Commissioner office.
When contacted she calls this move as G2G (Government to Government)initiative and gives credit to Ashish Upadhayay, Commissioner Higher Education and his team of Directorate for its successful implementation. She said that the beauty of these camps are the support of the Higher Education Minister, Laxman Singh Gaur, who also during the camps disposes all those files in which he is the competent authority to decide.

Dilemma among officers
Members of the bureaucracy & corporate sector are in dilemma, particularly those who have to switch jobs or assume charge at new places.Reason for this is not too far to seek. These days "Shradh paksha" is going on.It will conclude on October 11,2007 with "Sarvapitra Moksha Amavsya".During fortnight long period,in India, specially Hindus do not start any new work & are busy offering prayers in memory of their ancestors including next of kin who have passed away.Basically as per belief of the Hindu mythology it is considered inauspicious to start any new venture during this period

PCS officers should be sent to other states

I support the views of RK that officers of state civil service selected to IAS must be sent to other states. When this policy is adopted for AIS officers why this patronage to state service officers. Also as Neeta Sngh has wrote that direct recruit IAS officers are suffering in states due to promotee IAS officers this will help in solving the issue of undue patronage to state service officers by respective state governments. The state service officers if they want promotion to IAS they must be ready for a change in their cadre. This will also help in further strengthening the All India character of IAS.

DG Doordarshan and DG AIR should be from internal cadre

Someone has rightly said that DG, Doordarshan and AIR should be from the internal cadre. Perhaps people do not know that well that it is a highly technical and programme oriented area. This needs specialisation. And this nation knows what IAS is all about ?

We keep comparing and criticising DD for poor programming- has anyone ever given thought or raised voice to let the trained professionals work ? Easy to lambast professionals but these IAS people impose their idiotic decisions. That is the reason of its miserable downfall.

If people can see, why cant Dr Manmohan Singh ji see ???? Its high time, senior politicians look into this.

Professionals should be posted in Prasar Bharti

I fully support Sultan's view about IAS in Doordarshan. Any corporation, body where IAS have been head the efficiency of that organisation has gone down. There are large public sector undertakings in State Government. How many are profitable those who are run by IAS except organisations selling government land and providing government services. Any factory, transport corporation which are headed by IAS giving profit? They come as head of any organisation enjoy all benefits and leave after a few years. Doordarshan should be headed by professionals.

NO transparency

Tishyarakshit Chatterjee wrote

Your site could become useful to slot an officer to a post. If vacancies are known a little in advance then CVs can be matched and DOP can use your medium to indicate chances of posting in Delhi. This would be a transparent method.

When was the circular or ruling issued to make the selection for higher level posts transparent? To be best of my knowledge, any attempt to make them so, has been scuttled successfully in last 6 decades.

Why must we repeat our follies, and history, over and over again?

Of course the Indian cricket team has done well, and they must be felicitated, but this ostentatious display of wealth distribution by BCCI, and these handouts by Air India are shocking. And Air India's money is public money - how can auditors allow this brazen expenditure of public resources. And, why can't we be temperate in eulogy for the team and its success.

This very same team, if it doesn't perform in the coming one-day matches, will be hounded and accused of taking bribes etc. And this team can lose - after cricket is a game like any other, and other nations too put in a lot of effort.

Should the team lose, will the BCCI and AIR INDIA take back these handouts? Logically they should.

Unfortunately this entire "tamasha" is being orchestrated by senior politicians, senior bureaucrats, and senior BCCI members from whom more wisdom, and a balanced approach was expected.
