( We said this on November 6,2007) FORUM Hope Pay Commission will do justice Pay Commission must be extra cautious
and transparent for finalising the pay scales for various levels- Under Secretary,
Dy. Secretary, Director, Jt. Secretary, Adll. Secretary and Secretary to maintain
their dignity and importance. Unnecessary clubbing of pay scales be avoided. Hope
justice shall prevail. Retire Them at 60 The
debate on retirement age is very hot these days. In my opinion, to increase the
retirement age of government employees from 60 to 62 years is not a wise step
in view of the current rate of unemployment in the country. Some bureaucrats might
have advocated before the Sixth Pay Commission that by increasing the retirement
age, the government shall be able to postpone its pension liability for 2 years.
But what about the huge salary expenditure, which shall be incurred for 2 years
on lakhs of government employees. Besides, the biggest loss shall be for the lakhs
of graduates/ postgraduates who will have to wait for 2 years for jobs. So, it
is in the interest of the nation to superannuate the government employees at the
age of 60. The system need young generation The system need young generation. More you increase the age the more lethargic your system is going to be. No doubt, experience counts but the system also needs innovative ideas, speed and also smartness. There is lot of frustration in Govt service due to 60 years retirement age. People who are supposed to get promotion are just staring at the Govt decisions and their frustration continues. System needs energy, for which 55 years would be more appropriate. Sanjeev Devchowdhury Age should not be raised Retirement ka age bilkul nahi badna chahiye, balki use ghatana chahiye. Life expectancy bhale hi jyada ho gaya ho, lekin isse berojgari bahut jyada bad jayegi,Jo log mehanat karke upar badna chahta hai, use bahut nirasha hogi kyunki nai bharti to lagbhag band hi ho jayege... Om Sudha Kumar They should realize the truth When some officers shirk work / responsibility and indulge in back biting and posing themselves as superior above all, leads to bye pass them in public interest. They should realise the truth before blame game. They should learn to respect the chair and dedicate themselves to truth, sincerety and wastage of precious time. They should also place themselves in the responsible citizen before citicising. surkosik Raise in retirement age will help Congress Raising the retirement age to 62 and then to 65 will help Congress to garner the votes of both the older generation as well as the younger generation. After all ,if papa gets another 2 years the younger generation also get another 2 years of fun and frolic at papas expense.Besides in western countries the retirement age is 65 and they get the maximum out of their employees by making them work till they drop dead. Why cant our govrnment do the same? THE BODIES OF DEAD GOVRNMENT EMPLOYEES CAN BE CREMATED IN MASS FUNERALS , BATCH -WISE, LIKE GOVRNMENT SPONSERED MASS WEDDINGS.THIS WILL GO A LONG WAY IN PREVENTING DEFORESTATION AND BY PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT WILL ALSO SAVE THE TIGER FROM EXTINCTION. D Choudhury Services should be utilized without any authority Most of the Officers over 55 years of age are found to be brain-dead, arrogant and interested only in availng benefits of Government Service, without responsibility. Instead of extending retirement age, services of able officers with proven merit should be utilised as Consultants, Members of Task Forces, Advisory Committees, etc., without any authority. G Rao Government has no option but to increase retirement age I think this would be the right course of action by the Government. Even if the revised pay scales which are being circulated for the VIth Pay Commission, will be accepted, there may not be many to take up employement in the Govt so Govt has no option but to increase retirement age to keep the experienced person and delaying payment of increased pensions to already retired and would be retiring persons.
