This cash was seized from two persons travelling in a car from Delhi to Amritsar. As per the statement of these persons this cash was being sent from a real Estate Company in Delhi to another real Estate Company in Amritsar. This appeared to be in connection with some land deal at Amritsar. Since they could not offer any valid explanation for this cash, the amount was seized by the IT authorities. The Pioneer group bags
contract for "Namaskar" FORUM Why
not 100 days of assured employment ? It is fast disappearing A plethora of insinuations, explicit and implicit, have been hurled at each other on account of real or perceived grouse. It appears that the pride in performing the basic function(s)that one is expected to carry out professionally, at whatever level in the administrative hierarchy, is fast disappearing. Also, everyone appears to be forever aspiring (conspiring!)to attain higher and higher level in the convoluted bureaucracy while faithfully abdicating the responsibility for completion of simpler and so called lower level tasks. Consequently, with everyone trying to pass on the unsavoury tasks to the level below, there is palpable desperation, dejection and helplessness at all levels! Palliatives in the nature of restoring some semblance of (notional)parity or even a monetary raise prove to be illusory. The true test of the fructification of our administrative reforms and economic liberalization will consist in the liberalization of the rigid mind set which still carries vestiges of feudal values in abundance. There is a fierce clash between these anachronistic values and the imperatives of efficiency and economic development. As to human motivation to perform higher order tasks, a story that comes to mind in the given context may be worth sharing in this forum. It is said that the then President of the USA during the course of an interview he gave sometime in the late 1950s suddenly announced that the US shall be sending the first man to the Moon. The entire world was taken aback by the abrupt disclosure. To study the motivational level of people associated with the project, a management team decided to interview the employees at NASA. The first person they accosted inside the premises was a sweeper. The sweeper on being asked about his job profile is believed to have remarked, "I am involved in sending the first man to the Moon." S K Tewari Telecom promotions The regular DPC of 1991 Batch of Indian P&T, Accounts and Finance Service for SAG promotion may take some time due to change in ACR policy, being formulated by DOPT. But SEA Section of DOT is trying to give Adhoc SAG (which was not given to earlier batches) to 91 batch before Feb 6,2008 as Member(finance) is getting VRS on this date. The Telecom commission has been promoting officers of P&T finance officers to SAG without being empowered for it. The power to promote was only for ITS officers as specific exemption was granted to promote only ITS officers without approval of ACC but both P&T Finance and BW& E S cadres have been getting it done since the Members are signing the files on their retirement with impunity. Meena, SAIL Director (Personnel)G. Ojha & Joint Secretary (Ministry of Steel) G. Elias I.M.G.Khan to launch PLI's 125th yr celebrations To mark the launch of Quasquicentennial Celebrations of Postal Life Insurance (PLI), the release of special cover and cancellation will be held in a big way on February 5, 2008 at India International Centre, New Delhi.Secretary, Department of Posts, IMG Khan will release the special cover. In its 125th year, PLI has taken significant resolutions to celebrate the mile posts. These include management of corpus within the frame work of IRDA investment regulations; up gradation of the computer system and management of data base centrally in the national data centre; and professional training to its sales force and granting license to the sales force in the pattern of IRDA regulations. Introduced on Feb. 01, 1884 for providing Life Insurance coverage to the Postal Employees, the PLI is extended to all employees of the Central Government including defence and paramilitary personnel, employees of the state Governments, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies, universities, municipalities, nationalized banks etc. Compared to other insurance companies, PLI charges low premium from its customers and pay much higher rates of bonus. Today, number of live policies in PLI exceeds 85 lakh (including the Rural PLI). The corpus size is more than Rs. 12,500 crore. Total Sum Assured for all policies (including Rural PLI) comes to more than Rs. 31,000 crore. The fund is healthy and the current rates of bonus are Whole Life Policies -Rs. 90 for every thousand Rupees of Sum Assured; Endowment Assurance Policies - Rs. 70 for every thousand Rupees of Sum Assured; and Anticipated Endowment Policies- Rs.65 for every thousand Rupees of Sum Assured. It was primarily because of high rate of bonus, PLI has succeeded in retaining its niche market, in spite of opening up of the insurance sector and , thereby, increasing competition. PLI fund is growing at an average annual rate of 20% and RPLI fund at an average rate of more than 40% in recent years. PLI concentrates on traditional Life Insurance products and primary focus is coverage of risk and ensuring a decent return to its customers. Besides Whole Life, Endowment and Anticipated Policies, PLI offers Yugal Suraksha policies for working couples and offers add on policies for children. Starting from acceptance of proposals to settlement of claims, the operations are computerized and strict norms are followed for every aspect of customer service. |
