I like this site very much and it is very useful also. One thing I
would like to mention here that please mention about the lower level
officers also. Please look into the pathetic condition of the service
of CSSS in Government of India. P K Mishra to be Member UPSC ! CORPORATE Anurag Gupta poised to join Mudra (UPDATED) Anurag Gupta is poised to join Mudra Group as President, Strategic Initiatives & Integration. FORUM Why delay in CIT Transfers ? Will the CBDT explain the delay in issue of orders of CIT. The transfer policy itself lays down that the deadline of transfers is 31st May. It says 'not later than 31st May'. Still after more than 1and half months of this deadline there is no trace of transfer orders. The orders have become time barred and as such any order now will be against the transfer policy itself. Is the CBDT aware that in most of the cases the children of officers in this age group will be in class IX to XII which are very crucial. There is going to be extreme hardship in seeking admission etc. Hope that elders in CBDT are alive to this issue and will issue orders well within next two /three days. Hope Revenue Secretary and Finance Minister take this issue in proper spirit Ram Retirement Age It is true that the comments about retirement age being 50 quoted is not correct. It is also height of madness if the retirement age which should be 58 has already been increased to 60 and the expectation of some vested persons is it should be 62 and even more. This thought is highly stupid. 58 is itself comfortably enough for a government servant to settle if he plans well. Moreover, in Government Offices, the percentage of ladies is more and that too in stenography line. Increasing the age will only affect and disturb the other colleagues as the total workload will be transferred to somebody mostly juniors and resultant the actual sufferers are housewives without any benefit. These working ladies in government offices will reach home in time and enjoy with their family whereas some male is made to sit late and his housewife would be doing all the domestic work and waiting for him without any incentive. Rameez Raja Age should not be raised Government should not raise the retirement age to 62. Karan Singh Raise in retirement age is frustrating Such a decision would be frustrating for a large number of employees who had earlier been hit by increase of the age upto 60 years. They had to wait two more years for their promotions, residential accommodations etc. Some of the unlucky persons retired without getting the promotion or postings they would have got had the age not been increased. Besides, it also creates problems for the youth in already shrinking government job market. This kind of decision is not in the interest of anyone except a few at the top. N Prasad Is media scared ? Politicians are busy for their number game to save their chair in the name of serving Democratic Indian Country and all kinds of assurance to the faithful citizens. MPs, MLAs, Bureaucrats are there for earning money during their entire tenure. What is the status of the treasury every time a government collapses? How is it possible that every time the treasury is at zero balance or negative balance? Where does the money go? How many projects have been completed? Where is Media? No use covering articles about whether Aishwarya Rai married Abhishek Bachchan or whether there was a wardrobe malfunction and so the dress slipped revealing the private parts, when a model was walking down the ramp? Media should first focus on the critical issues of the nation. No use just speaking english. Even a cobbler speaks English in Bangalore. Is media scared? Or have the politicians, elite, influential people and businessmen bribed you with wine, women and wealth and bought your Silence? Gurvinder ACR business Dr. Deepak Chanda said " Government of india should work for monitoring any mismatches within the preview of ACR and judgement of officer/officials be more open ended with a view of foresightedness taking in consideration the limitations/constraints in working area/division." Very interesting. Similar sentiments were also given by Minakshi Roy sometime back. In most of the cases, the ACR is based on self appraisal. In many cases, I have seen that the self appraisal submitted by the officer being reported claims great work done by him. His reporting officer agrees with him but the reviewing officer, due to reasons known to all, still rates the ACR as "Good". He escapes the ritual of informing the officer about adverse entry by saying that "Good" is not adverse. When DPC takes place in UPSC, "Good" is taken as adverse. The DPC Babus, despite recent Supreme Court ruling , has no time to go through the self appraisal or reporting officer's concurrence with claims of officer reported upon. No wonder, the media calls these people "Babus" (as was indicated in this site. Actually, the word is "Baboo" which rhyme with "Tatoo" ( "Mule" in English, the stubborn animal) who refuses to do anything till beaten. The UPSC may review all the DPCs done since the "good" become adverse, so that justice is done. Ram Narain Marriage of convenience The Samajwadi Party, the one time bete noire of the Congress Party refused a live- in- relationship. How are they now going in for a Mutta Marriage! Surely, the Politics is the art of the impossible besides being the refuge of the ...! A K Saxena Need for green and Gandhi Thanks to Tiwari for highlighting the need for green and Gandhi. The world is at peril due to overexploitation of natural resources and over destruction of the environment of mother Earth. Time is not far away when every human will cry "trihimam, trihimam" &seek Heavenly Benediction to save the planet. The enthusiasts of nuclear energy are misleading people generally. They should clearly state the plans for disposal of nuclear waste in the next 50/100/200/300 years. Nuclear waste can not simply be dumped in rivers/sea/soil. It does not digest/disintegrate/degenerate for ages. The developed world is fully aware of the problem. They have been on the lookout for locations safe for them, which can only be thousands of miles away. There is not enough land even for burying the dead, then wherefrom do they get the required amount of land for burying the nuclear waste. Special chambers are being built to bury the nuclear waste. These chambers are beautiful structures, several times better/sturdy/beautiful than even our DDA built flats in posh Delhi colonies. Imagine our poor Indians 50/100 years hence, who might encroach upon such structures in the hope of finding a suitable habitat for themselves and coming in contact with radioactive nuclear waste dumped in side. Encouraged to dig for hidden treasures of the Mughal Era, they shall certainly bring misery to the entire city. We often read about children getting killed while trying to break unexploded hand grenades they find in the periphery of army shooting range. Ignorance ignited by greed for finding hidden treasures beneath is a sure recipe for disaster. Listen to saner voices, my countrymen, and follow Gandhi. He is the only Leader that India has produced in the last 200 years! M L Gupta China unlikely to assault India it is unlikely that China can ever dare to assault India either from Nepal or any where else, but the most imminent threat from China from economic and Industrial threat, which our own industries are facing today. Hari Will FM look into affairs of public sector insurance co? I wish to draw the attention of the Finance Minister to the fate of PSU Insurance Co's. All 4 of them are seeing a steady decline in profits, market share over the last 3 yrs. More serious, is the apathy towards the employees, who have lost their motivation. A vibrant insurance sector requires a strong PSU set up, to balance the private sector insurance co. ever heard of 386 computers or a house rent allowance that puts a cap of 1600 per month. what do we expect the officers who have been transferred on TMP to different cities- as if they are civil servants, with attendant staff and housing facilities. With lack of housing, it is high time the cap on HRA is removed, as otherwise every single insurance officer will turn corrupt only to sustain his family. TMP also needs to be reviewed, and it should allow for some exemptions. Dr Sanjay Singh It will be retrograde step It will be a retrograde step, It will be better if some party can come out of divisive politics & address other serious issues which help in national building & put the governance and delivery mechanism on track. Whom they will rule when nation cease to exist. Indian needs to be matured and made accountable. P K Dubey No China threat I strongly feel that a Chinese threat at this point of time is present; but not very pressing. Firstly; the USA and Russia have both; in a rare show of giving their consents for a common cause; pushed for better relations with India. India's military power is weak w.r.t China but certainly not small enough to prompt an attack, especially with the nuclear capabilities. Also, China has Tibet to keep it busy. Dheer Bhatnagar One should appreciate IRS Let Nihar Khan and his cohorts, speaking on behalf of IAS fraternity, be aware that the collection of direst taxes in the first quarter of financial yaer 2008-09 has touched Rs 57, 373 cr. as against Rs 41,391 cr. last year for the same period registering an increase of 38.61%, with the cost of collection of 0.54%, the lowest in the world! The collection of direct taxes in 2008-09 will exceed Rs 3,00, 000crs, resulting in a bonanza for IAS fraternity to collect their incremental non-taxable gains out of larger outlays for public expenditure in both Central Government and various State Governments!!! In fact, IAS fraternity should appreciate the greater efforts on the parts of income-tax and central excise and customs authorities to boost their collections of taxes and duties, to make their lives more comfortable and in some cases, very luxurious! The IAS fraternity can send their children to study in the prestigious Ivy League Universities in USA, such as, Harvard Business School, Wharton School of Finance, MIT, Columbia University or Chicago and Yale Universities or Cambridge or Oxford Universities in UK or build luxurious palatial residences in home-towns or decorate their wives and daughters with jewellery like Xmas trees!! Kamini Kashyap Corruption in Income Tax Those who are denying that corruption does not exist in IRS are denying the truth, known to the whole world. Ask the common man, he will tell the story of all- pervading corruption in Income Tax Department, even to take his refund money. It is true Not all are corrupt, there should be Good people there. But they do nothing to fight the corruption of their colleagues. The Good should challenge the bad. Then only the public perception would change - not by vehement denials Sunny Gupta There is no threat from China China does not need any base to assault India. It has already got top class highways upto its borders, where India would need three days to reach on foot. China is much more powerful and advanced as compared to India. If it is not doing anything, it is having pity on us. India is divided communally, socially and culturally. It is not possible for India to get united. Future is awaiting something that is not good for India, if it remains as it is. Yoginder Pandit |
