While it is interesting that IAAS postings find a place in the site, one more issue of the falling standards in the IAAD needs to be analysed by Suresh Mehrotra. Though I agree that dirty linen should not be washed in public, it's welcome if this helps in straightening up things and opens up the ears of the so called decision makers.

Aaj Ki Aawaz
Civil servants recall Rajiv Gandhi fondly for the perks he gave them.

Though most would not believe it, most civil servants could never afford to order a bottle of good wine in a Delhi hotel. Yet the govt is not releasing the pay commission implementation; nor the increase in age to 65; but are waiting for a good time to woo the civil servant votes. Well this is the right time with the CPM out of the ruling front. Everyone is hoping that the Prime Minister will put his foot down and make an early announcement just as he did for the nuke deal. The last time the govt did something of this nature was when Rajiv Gandhi gave us the 5 day week [despite opposition to the idea just as there is today against the age extension] and a car to go to work. Till today we recall Rajiv fondly for this. He was way ahead of his times. Now it is upto Dr Manmohan Singh.
