Group A Civil Services may be delinked
In fact, we do not need much of the Group A Civil services which are of specialised nature. Therefore it is but natural that they may be delinked and recruitment may be done by the Ministries through UPSC but not as Generalised Civil-services. For ex services like Postal/Ordinance/Information/Trade etc. (This is without any prejudice to service). Therefore, we require only Three All-India-Services:
1. Indian Admin Service
2. Indian Police Service
3. Indian Finance Service

This will satisfy IAS, because the distinct nature along with the nomenclature (Raj Era) is maintained and would satisfy there so called ego and merit and professionalism as said to be acquired during Districts Posting (Cutting Age of the Admin. Police service should not have any problem since they are on deputations on these services as a matter of right (RPF/CBI/CRP/BSF etc.). The Finance services in the present scenario would become more professional when the Revenue part would be linked to them, in addition to present expenditure aspects (In most situations) and there fore become much more professional in the Globalised economy. This will also satisfy the new and aspirants of civil-services that after such a hard labour they made it to the civil services and may not lend up in a services for which they might not have heard or in Gruop-B, which definitely have no justification being recruited through combined Civil services Exam. I hope this scheme of thing would be more satisfying to individuals as well as cater for the professionalism as expected from the civil services.

Maiden Indian LPG cavern storage opened by Deora

Indian Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Murli Deora had inaugurated the LPG cavern storage of South Asia LPG Company Private Limited which is a Joint Venture of the Oil majors HPCL and Total, France at Visakhapatanam on January 14,2008. The minister also graced the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of HPCL's Visakh Refinery.During his speech, Shri Deora applauded the pioneering efforts of HPCL and Total in shaping the first Indian Cavern storage into reality. The minister indicated that, in fact, the Cavern is the first of its kind in South and Southeast Asia. The Cavern storage is a unique achievement and engineering marvel. In his speech the minister hailed Larsen & Toubro, who are the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contractors for the project. The bottom most point in LPG Cavern is 182 M below mean seal level (MSL) and ranks among the deepest Caverns in the world. The Cavern has a storage capacity of 60,000 MT LPG and is the largest single point storage in the country. The large Cavern storage will help in ensuring uninterrupted availability of LPG in the east coast and will bring-in freight economics through Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC).

Air India to operate 3 special flights on the Jeddah-Kozhikode sector

Air India of which Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD)is Thulasidas,will operate three special flights on the Jeddah-Kozhikode sector on Tuesday/Wednesday with a 423 seater B-747-400 to clear the backlog of Haj pilgrims.A spokesman of Air India said that these flights will be in addition to the scheduled Haj charters that Air India operates on this sector and to other points in India.The spokesman further said that flight AI 111 of this Tuesday and Wednesday operating on Delhi-London-New York sector were being combined. The flight will now depart from Delhi at 7.20 am on Wednesday.
