IFS in a pitiable condition in Uttar Pradesh
The IFS (forest) officers in Uttar Pradesh cadre are in a pitiable condition. The 1992 batch has not got selection grade till now. That is 16 years of service. Without getting selection grade they can not become Conservator of Forests. So currently the 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 batch IFS are still waiting to get selection grade.

Debate is lacking in objectivity

The debate surrounding the inter-se service superiority appears to be lacking in objectivity. Each service has its distinctive role to perform as per its unique skill sets. Also, in the changed context, the rightful role and function of each service may have to be redefined. The reasons for bestowing the chimerical SAG tag on everyone after putting in whatever number of years in any service are not known. However, it is a defeatist and self serving mentality that clamours for a continuous elevation in status irrespective of the actual role and function that may be assigned to and performed by those so decorated and venerated. Further reduction in the scale, which measures seniority, will also undermine superiority. Willy nilly, we are all caught in the same social trap. We continue to believe in an ascriptive status even as we try to make an impression with our superior professional credentials. After all, in the prevailing set up it is still the ascriptive status that largely determines one's mundane entitlement!. A complete make over is necessary on the part of the bureaucracy, as an institution, to fully comprehend and effectively manage the dynamics of the economic and social change that is engulfing us. Shall the Sixth Central Pay Commission, supposedly an impartial body, explicitly acknowledge and delineate the rightful role and function of each service on objective criteria and also ensure that an environment is created in which all services-civil, defence, scientific, economic, statistical, medical, engineering et al- as also all Groups-'A','B','C'& 'D' are enthused to perform with pride, dignity and self-esteem towards an overriding goal of national development and away from our mutual bickering?

The worst performing department under government of India are CGHS and CPWD. They should be disbanded/privatised. Look at the state of Government colonies, you can tell from a distance that the slum kind looking house is a government built house ,built and maintained by CPWD.
And if you want to die, go and get treated by CGHS doctors.
